Review Topic: K1 Visa

I had my interview on 9 March 2017. Yes.. it a nerve wrecking thingy. 😅😅😅. Especially while waiting to be called in the hall. It does gives me hibbies jibbies all the way.
Looking at the crowd, i can say not many people applying for k1 visa in Malaysia. Unlike before, when I came for a tourist visa. Long queue, so to speak.
As what my fiance said, not many people as crazy as us here. 😆
It went pretty smooth. I waited about one hour before my number being called.
At the window, the officer start with the oath and asked me to answer yes or no.
Then the interview starts. Most of the questions asked are pretty much from what we have rehearsed. But yeah... i got nervous at the very beginning till I didnt even know what the heck I'm talking about. She got confused and she needs to repeat it few times.
After a while, I finally manage to get my momentum back. Trying to cool down and answer her confidently.

Review Topic: K1 Visa

Just for historical notation, we are a same-sex couple applying in a Muslim country. I am the petitioner.

We were instructed to arrive at the embassy 15 min prior to our 10:15 am appointment time. We arrived at 9:50 am. To our surprise and delight, there was no line at the security entrance. My partner took the lead and spoke to the staff, with me standing behind him. The officer outside the guardhouse politely greeted us and asked if we were together. When the guard inside the guardhouse approached the window, he asked our purpose, Kean, my partner, said that we there to have a K-1 Visa interview. Without hesitation or a change in his affect, the guard looked at me and asked if I were the petitioner. This made me realize the guard knew what the K-1 visa type was, a fiance visa. I said yes. Again, no reaction, no hesitation, no smiling, he made no reaction to this information. He reviewed our appointment letter. He collected our phone. He directed us where how to enter t... read complete review

Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

Interview date: 28 feb 2017
interview time: 815am
Note: Petitioner (husband) attended the interview with me but he's not allowed to answer for me.

Questions asked:
1. Tell me your story. How did you meet?
2. How do you contact each other while you're doing LDR?
3. Wedding date and venue.
4. Tell me about your engagement?
5. Show me your wedding pictures.
6. What is my husband doing in US?
7. Which state my husband is living at?

The Officer was very friendly and the interview was quick.
The given timeline for passport collection was one week but I was lucky enough to have gotten it the next day.

Good luck everyone! Hope this helps.
Good bye LDR!

Interview was scheduled for 7.30AM but I got there at about 7.10AM and I was the 7th in line. At about 7.30AM, they started to let us in - registering ourselves, giving up our electronic devises, etc.

I didn't really keep track of the time but after I've gotten my waiting number, I just waited until it was my turn in the waiting room. My number was called to Counter 1, the lady at the counter simply asked for the documents the embassy asked for and at the same time asked me a couple questions (she asked according to the checklist):
1. appointment letter
2. passport
3. DS-160
4. 1 passport style photo
5. visa payment receipt
6. birth certificate (original, photocopy and translation)
7. police certificate
8. She asked if I am single and if I was married before (I said yes I'm single and have never been married before, then I noticed that she ticked X)
9. I-134 and all supporting documents (I only gave her the ... read complete review

Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

Since the last review done for the US Embassy in Kuala Lumpur was a year ago, I figured I'd share my own experience since it was kinda frustrating to not find anything up to date from Malaysians who are undergoing a visa journey!

Lucky for us, my husband was going to be in town during my interview date and he was allowed to join me! Yaaaaaaaaay!

Our interview time was scheduled for 7.30am so we made our way there about 6.30am. Upon arriving, we saw a very very long line of people already waiting to attend their interviews. It is still very dark in KL at that time so there we were, standing outside with a bunch of other people in the dark. Eventually, about 7.10am, we were asked to line up in front of the entrance and I'm not sorry to say that I kind of pulled an asshole move and snuck myself to 3rd in line. (What? Technically the initial line wasn't real).

The first lady in line was a Chinese national who had nothing but her passport as a he... read complete review
