The Consulate Officer was very friendly and likable. He asked me how I met my wife, when and where we were married, where we went for our honeymoon and seemed genuinely interested. I had brought a small photo album my wife had sent me as a gift and he was very happy to look at all of the pictures-even laughing and asking questions. Overall it was a good experience, but the one thing I was uncomfortable with was the Arabic-English translator. She told me it was mandatory I speak Arabic and she translated to English, however she did not always provide completely accurate translations so I had to correct her several times. They were not serious mistakes but could have easily caused some confusion for the Consulate Officer that could have resulted in the need for a second interview.

Interview was scheduled for 1:00 so we showed up at the door around 12:30, it took about 20 minutes to get through security and get into the main hall. From there it seems several people had been scheduled for the same time slot so we waited in line to get our fingerprints taken, and then for the actual interview.

It took about 30 minutes to get called for the fingerprints and then another 30-45 minutes to be called for our turn to interview. The interviewer was a very nice person who just asked a quick few questions (name, occupation, how we met, who the sponsor was) then smiled and said we'd been approved.

The only bad part about the experience was the long wait time, but overall it was pleasant.

my interview was at 1:00 PM I arrived at 12:45. I was all nervous but the whole experience went smooth I was given a piece of paper with instructions on what order to arrange my papers. a few minutes later i heard my name and they took all papers. Then waited, then called again for finger prints, then waited for a while.. then called again and the interview started. the officers are more than nice and friendly and interview itself took a few minutes only. My advice: make sure you have all your documents and prepare them, be calm and relax things will turn out just fine
