Thank you everyone who is updating all the information and posting your experiences here!

Everything over there went smooth. You will be explained step-by-step, so no confusion or anything. I arrived at the embassy at 08:00 and left there before 09:30.

I was called fourt times to the different windows.
1. Turn all required documents.
2. For the fingerprint.
3. Return unnecessary documents back to me.
4. Interview (Only this time I was called with my full name.)

Everyone I had to deal with was very friendly and nice. Interview took only a few minutes. It was more like just regular conversation instead of Visa interview.

Tips from me: Glue your passport size photo and the reciept for the visa fee on a designated place on a copy of DS156 and have another one without them. And don't staple together! Also arrive there very early and have some coffee near by so you won't hit the rush hour. In t... read complete review

Smooth process. As the petitioner, I was able to attend the window for all parts except the actual interview portion (which I was able to observe/hear from the waiting chairs just a few feet away.)

Embassy setup feels like the DMV here in the States. All preliminary information gathering and the final interview take place at one of 10 or so windows that are lined up along the wall of the waiting area.

Observed that the immigration officers were professional and courteous, most couples seemed to be moving through the process without issues.

Start to finish took about 2 hours, mostly just waiting to be called up to the window for different items. The interview itself was about 10 minutes.

Everything went very smooth. I answered more questions than my wife who was to be interviewed. The whole process took about 2 hours of which actual talking was about 20 minutes. Rest was just waiting time.

Thanks to follow VJ members' reviews and advice, I could prepare enough for the interview today and I was approved. I had positive experiences and officers, a consular (interviewer) and security guards were very nice and kind.

I arrived at the gate 7:40 a.m. for my interview at 8:30 a.m. Only 4 parties were waiting when the embassy gate opened at 8 a.m.

I had to leave my cellphone and other electric equipment at the security point before entering the building. I went through a security check similar to airports. Then I was guided to the visa section office entrance. I signed in and was given a clear folder and an instruction sheet stating the order of the documents for putting in the folder (DS-156, DS-156K, the second copy of DS-156, police report, medical report, EXPACK and supporting documents)

I got the number first. At 8:30 a.m. they started calling the numbers. I submitted the folder to a Japanese officer. After about 10 minu... read complete review

The embassy got our case in the beginning of July and took their time sending us our packet 3. I called to ask about whether or not they had actually received our case since they were taking so long and was forced to talk to that $20 phone line person who speaks poor Japanese and poor English, making communication nearly impossible. When I refused to get off the phone unless she did something, she finally offered to send in an inquiry. They finally sent out our packet 3 after receiving my inquiry... and an RFE for evidence of relationship and a timeline of events. My fiance already had all of the documents pertaining to the case so he sent a reply the next day. We waited a week and then I sent a $20 e-mail complaint asking them to send packet 4 so that he could at least get an interview and they replied that they just happened to have finished processing our packet 3 and were sending packet 4. He got his interview date and we waited.

My fiance went in for his interview o... read complete review
