It was quick and just 4 to 5 questions, which were basic one like: where and how did you guys meet?
The visa was issued on the day when the interview took place and delivered to me next day.

Easy! The embassy emailed us before our appointment to let us know which documents they would require. My spouse brought the documents they asked + the docs we had uploaded to NVC, just to be careful. Working with the embassy vs. NVC is night and day. They are much more empathetic. I guess because it's a face-to-face interaction, instead of dealing with someone through electronic queue.
As long as you have your ducks in a row, your experience at the Tokyo embassy should be as seamless as ours!

I had an interview on June 13th.
My appointment was at 8:15am but I was able to get security check at 8:00am.
I entered the embassy at 8:05am and left at 8:35am.
Interview itself took only one minute. Literally one minute lol

* When and where did you meet your fiancé?
* Is this going to be your first marriage? Him too?
* No children, right?
* When did you get engaged?
* Is your fiancé in the states or here (Japan)?
* Have you had a medical exam?

I had medical exam on June 3rd but didn’t receive the certificate by the interview day so my visa has technically not approved yet but the interviewer said “Everything looks good. We’ll issue your visa in a week or so after we receive your medical certificate.”

My interview was at 8:15AM.

I showed up a bit early at 7:40AM (traffic wasn't as bad as expected) and had to wait outside. At 8:00AM I was allowed to go inside. I received a number and had to organize my documents to easily hand to the officer during my interview.

When I was called up to the window, I asked if there was a Japanese interpreter or if I could do the interview in Japanese. The officer asked me (in Japanese) if I could speak any English. I said I could speak some and she said that we would try to do it in English first (like an English teacher). The interview was easy and so I was able to do it all in English.

First I was asked to hand over my medical results, she glanced over them real quick and said it looked good. After that I was asked for my police report, and she again glanced at it real quick and said it looked good. Next I was asked to hand over my I-134 packet and she looked at the top page and said it was good (which is... read complete review

Approved!
We over-studied for sure.
General questions like "How did you meet?" "How long have you been dating?"
Nothing very deep like family names, in-laws or anything like that.
Oh and, "Did you ever visit the United States together?"

They were very nice. There was an issue with receiving our medical exam so they put us in administrative review, but told us we already passed and when they got the medical exam result, we would get the visa after.

They asked us to leave my wife's passport, which is a good sign because it means they need it to apply the visa to it.
