It has been a while since I had my interview, so… things may have been changed.
I encourage those who are going to take their interview soon to check blogs and other sources to be prepared and to be updated. It really helps you a lot!!!!
(For my case) I was at the embassy early in a morning, passed the security check, put my documents in order, sit down and wait till you are called for your biometry, again (go back) sit down and wait till you are called for your personal interview.
My total waiting time was around 3 hours. Be prepared that you cannot play around with your cell phones or any other devices.
My interview was quite short and it took about 5 – 10 minutes

Here's my recent (summer 2015) K-1 interview experience at the Tokyo Embassy.
Given the ferocious heat, the embassy is calling on interviewees not to come earlier than 15 minutes before appointment time. Anyway I planned to come to the gate by 8:30 for a 9:15 appointment. Unfortunately something happened on the way and reached there just at 9:00.
All the process was complete in about 2 and a half hours so if you come at 9, your expected out-of-the-embassy time should be 11:30.
- You have to walk around to reach the gate for security reasons. Give yourself additional time for it. Don't panic, follow the road rules, don't break rules in front of J policemen. It's hot, I know, I know.
- There's a TV in the room. You can check time on the screen.
- There's also a water cooler, a vending machine and a photo booth.
I waited about 1h and 15min to submit my paper works.(window #4, J officer)
- People who ... read complete review

My interview was quick and easy, it only took about 5 mins. Below are questions that I was asked at the interview.
How did you meet your fiancé?
When did your fiancé move to Japan?
When did he move back to the states?
How do you communicate with your fiancé after he went back to the states?
What is your fiancé's occupation?
Do you have any children?
Does your fiancé have any children?
Have you been married before?
Has your fiancé been married before?
Make sure to bring a book or a magazine with you! Lots of waiting and you are not allowed to bring your cell in the building. Also there was no clock in the interview room so if you want to know the time, bring a watch! Good luck!!!!

The worst part was having to travel to Tokyo for the interview; Osaka would have been closer.
I didn't know before going but, I wasn't able to take any electronic items inside so I was forced to find some place to keep them.. I went back to the subway station and used a locker.
I waited 30 minutes after arriving and the interview took about 1 minute. He confirmed ours names and jobs. I was so fast and easy.
