I have a lot of bones to pick with this consulate.

- Long wait. Our appointment was at 8:30. They called us around 10:30.

- You have to be sitting. I got tired of sitting after an hour, got up to stretch my legs, and they told us to sit back down.

- HORRIBLE interviewer. She was incredibly mean. Maybe she was having a bad day, but it makes me so angry that careless, mean people are allowed to decide the fates of others based on their own personal moods.

I, the petitioner, was there with my husband. The speaker didn't work very well. I asked her to speak louder and she said "Well these questions aren't for you" really rudely. Well if I couldn't hear the question, how was I supposed to know it wasn't for me?

So, our visa was rejected, and she didn't even tell us that, or why. When we were done, she told us to wait for the guy at the other desk. I asked if we were accepted or rejected, she said go to the guy at... read complete review

Mixed feelings.

The entire process from NVC to visa issuance took about 10/11 months w/o lawyer.

My husband had his interview on the 22 of April and our visa was issued on the 2nd July (over 2 months later). The interview went well, but despite earning above the poverty line, the consulate still asked for a co-sponsor. After submitting co-sponsor forms at the beginning of May, the case went into administrative processing. Apparently, administrative processing can happen anyone. During the entire AP process, the visa system crashed and took two years to repair. What really bothered me though was the lack of clarity regarding the case and that things just took a long time to process. Glad its over though! Good luck to everyone and if there are questions, feel free to reach out.

Everyone at the embassy is very nice. They let me in to be with my husband at his interview. They asked us a few questions about where and how we met, who our co-sponsor is and what we plan to do in the U.S., then we were approved! Our visa was issued the next day!
All in all, the process seemed much more scary and nerve wracking than what happened. If you are going to the US Embassy in Jerusalem, RELAX!!!! Everyone will be very nice, just make sure to be prepared with all documents! You never know what you will be asked!
