Overall I had a pretty good experience with the embassy in Dublin. My interview was at 1:00 in the afternoon on Tuesday the 28th of September. The embassy itself is in a pretty awkward location, there isn't much around apart from the various pubs, bistro and coffee shops nearby. It can be a long wait at one of those places if you arrive too early for your interview. I live in Wicklow and relied on the bus to get up there for my interview. I would recommend that you do a dry run to get a feel for traffic and such if you are traveling from outside the city. If you can get a lift there or can drive yourself all the better, but there isnt much in the way of public parking around that area of ballsbridge. Arriving at the embassy I went up to the little window and gave my name to one of the security guards, he motioned me to wait over to the door on the right hand side, this was about ten to one, a few minutes later three people lined up behind me and asked if I was waiting to get in for an ... read complete review

Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

This review was for a CR-1 visa in Dublin, Ireland. Although the turn around time for processing was actually quick 8 weeks.
The process of getting there was a pain.
All of the issues I have were with the Irish support staff there, not the US immigration officers.

I had recently moved to Ireland with my wife in 2008 Jan, in March we decided to move back to the US and began the green card process.
We prepared the documents needed, called the embassy to make sure we had the facts, the Irish lady we spoke to told us/assured us that we could apply in April(even though it says 6 months in the docs for Consulate filings), after only 3 months in Ireland. So we sent the documents in and sure enough, we got them right back claiming we had to wait for 6 months before applying. The embassy also called me to tell me it was too early, I spoke to the exact same women(she gave us her extension the first time we spoke) who gave me the false information in the fir... read complete review

Arrived for interview no earlier than scheduled time of 1:00PM. Waited in the queue to be cleared by security. Was given my security tag and told to progress to the office area. I was one of 2 people waiting for an interview, I was called immediately. I was asked to present several relevant documents, then asked to pay the fee to the cashier. Unfortunately the fees had increased substantially since my instruction letter was received and I was advised incorrectly of the draft amount, they would not take the draft I had with me which was for a higher amount. Then I discovered that I was missing a set of forms; I was told I have an hour to get the correct draft amount and complete and print the missing forms. There was some confusion over the correct draft amount by the cashier. I left the embassy and ran around like a headless chicken for an hour but made it back in time. I was literally back in the door when I was called back to the window. I was asked to pay again and then as... read complete review

I went to the interview equipped with all the required documentation.
I had read that I shouldn't bring a bag which I didn't.
I didn't bring a cell phone nor a mp3 player etc.
I went through security *check*
Was directed to the visa processing centre.
Once inside took a number and sat down.
The wait was long (2 hours or so). A few rounds of submitting forms, then sitting down waiting again, then submit some forms again etc.
Then it was time for the actual interview, it took less than 10 minutes. The officer asked 8 questions then said I was done, and congratulated me.

Interview went well, missing an original document, so once we send that to them, then we'll get the visa in the mail. Dublin always mails back visa and the documents, its never given the day of interview.

They went through documents, asked hubby how we met, and enjoyed the entertaining story that he gave them. They asked for pics, and they were given to them. It was more of a conversation than an interrogation. They asked him what he would be doing in the US.

The only thing is that Dublin asks for a 12 by 14 envelope, but since they the consulate never sent a letter, we didnt know the size of envelope. So everyone take heed go with a 12 by 14 envelope with 8 euros worth of stamps!!

All in all, a great experience, and looking forward to finally having him here with me for good!!
