Review Topic: K1 Visa

I arrived at the embassy at 12:45 but wasn't allowed in till 1. I was first in line so I did the airport like security, they scan your belongings and take any electronics from you to store in a locker, this includes USB's.

I went into the main building and was greeted by another officer who gave me my number and told me to take a seat. I was called a few minutes later and asked for the visa fee, I didn't bother getting a postal order or bank draft as cash is easier ( A woman had brought a postal order for 263 euro and they couldn't accept it because it wasn't in dollars so do yourself a favour and bring cash ) I was then told to sit back down and a few minutes later I was called up to another window where a woman collected all my paperwork, as long as you have everything and it's all in order it's a very quick process! after giving her everything, she told me to take a seat and a CO would call me up shortly.

After waiting about 40 minute... read complete review

I was let in at 12.55 and went through the airport-style security, they wanted to see my passport. I was then directed towards the Embassy itself. I was given a number upon entering and waited for my number to be called. The first person I spoke to collected the following from me:

* DS-156(x2) + photos stapled in placed
* DS-156K
* DS-230 (part 1) for some reason but I also had part II stapled with it. She might have meant part II. I brought a duplicate of part I just in case.
* Medical report
* Big self-addressed envelope with €8 postage
* Police certificate of character
* My passport
* Affidavit of support + some of my evidence (they only wanted the original copy)
* Birth cert long form (or a certified copy)

They did not ask me for, but might ask you for: evidence of the relationship; an extra passport photo (on top of the 2 affixed to the 2 DS-156). I was then sent to the nearby cashier to pay th... read complete review

Review Topic: General Review

Arrive for 1pm appointment about 5 minutes early and we were about 5th in line to enter. Not everyone was there for a visa, some were there for reporting a birth, etc.

Got in and the security guard gave us our number, seems everyone ahead of us was waiting for a non-immigrant visa. Since we were there for an immigrant visa, we were called right away. First stop was the cashier to pay our $404. As soon as we were done paying, the woman in the next window was ready for us. She took all of our forms. The police report, photos, birth cert, everything that packet 4 tells you to bring. She looked to make sure it was all there and in order. Everything was great until she asked for the I-864, as they would not take into consideration our assets, only cash. We kind of expected this anyway. She told us to take a seat and the Consular would call us up. There was one man ahead of us who took about 45 minutes. Has he not taken so long, we would have been out of there in about 30 min... read complete review

Well the day of the interview finally arrived, and not wanting to be late, I arrived outside the embassy at 12:00 and decided to go for some lunch at Rolys across the street. The place gives you a view of the embassy to the side, so quite handy for seeing if a q is forming.

At 12:45 I walked over and they let me in immediately. Passed through Security and then up the ramp to the right, and waited to be called. I was second in line, and was amazed to see the couple in front had forgotten the photos and also the affidavit of support. Would recommend if you think you dont need it, you do and sure if you dont, its best to be prepared. I was then called to the
cashier and they took a Irish postal Order for €263 made payable to The US Embassy Dublin..

About 10 mins later, I was called and my forms were taken from me, namely DS-156 x2, DS-157.

5 minutes later I was called to speak to the American CO. He asked for me to sign DS-230 Part II... read complete review

Review Topic: K1 Visa

I attended my fiance's interview at the US embassy for his K1 visa and I was pleasantly surprised by our experience. We had a 1:00 appointment, but 1:00 appears to be the standard time for all visa applicants. I've seen in previous reviews that people are generally turned away if they arrive too early, but we didn't check in at the window upon arrival. Instead, we stood in line behind a few other people who were waiting to enter.

At 1:00, we were permitted to enter the security booth of the consulate. This procedure is very similar to going through airport security. All liquids and electronics were confiscated and held in a locker for us. We were then directed up the ramp into the embassy.

A security officer buzzed us in and asked us why were there. Once we told him which visa we were applying for, he gave us a number and asked us to have a seat. We were first called by an Irish woman who collected the payment only. We were then asked to have a seat. Next... read complete review
