Paul arrived on time to the embassy. They let him and he put all of his stuff in the locker. When he went into the room a man called him to the counter and he submitted the affidavit of support information, his original birth certificate (the man said he would not get the certificate back), DS-156 x 2 and DS-156K. He said that this man was very nice and also took one additional passport picture along with the $350.00 bank draft. The envelope he gave was slightly bigger than what they wanted (12x14), but it was really hard to find that size in Ireland. They were fine with the size difference.
He then sat back down and waited for another 1.5 hours and an American consular called him up. She asked a good few questions and was very snippy. She mainly was mainly asking contradictory questions and trying to trip Paul up in his answers. She asked:
-When did we meet?
-When did he propose?
-How many times did I come to Ireland?
-How many times did he come to A... read complete review

After a long wait we were relieved that the day of the interview had finally arrived! My interview was scheduled for 1pm. When I arrived at the US embassy in Dublin a line consisting of a few people had already started to form at the main entrance to the building. I joined the line which was steadily getting longer. A lot of people in the line had large x-ray envelopes and other documents so I knew they must have been there for the same reason as I was.

At around 12.50pm the guards at the gate to the Embassy began to let us in one by one. The guards checked my passport and crossed my name off a list. I walked through the metal detector. They took my phone, lip gloss and keys from me and kept them in a small locker. They gave me a label which I hung around my neck. Presumably it indicated why I was at the embassy and it also held a key that showed which locker my things were in (similar to a coat check).

I was carrying my large x-ray envelope, photos of mys... read complete review

Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

my interview was at 1:15, I arrived at 12:45 and was told to come back at 1 so I grabbed a quick lunch in the chipshop across the road. The embassy is just a quick walk from landsdown dart station so it is very easy to get to.
Upon entering the embassy I went through the airport like security, the guard took all my electronic items, put them in a locker and gave me the key to put around my neck. I then went into a waiting area where I was given a number and told to wait. I got talking to a nice lady in the waiting area who said she was told to bring an a4 envelope.I informed her this was wrong so she had to run to the post office around the corner to get the correct size envelope you will also need 12 euro worth of stamps.
I was then called up to have my documents checked. the nvc said that my wife being my sponsor was ok even though she had no tax returns but when I went to the window the guy informed me that I would need a co sponsor. this might be something people... read complete review

Make sure you have all your documents:

Passport
DS-156 x2 with 2x pictures (50mm by 50mm)
DS-156K (I almost got pulled up on this but thankfully found it in my packets!)
Birth Certificate
Police Clearance Certificate
I-134 Affidavit of Support
Evidence of relationship (pictures, flight details etc)
$350 - They seem to accept cash in dollars/euros and credit card even though they explicitly ask for bank draft on the document.
Self Addressed Envelope (12"x14") with 8e stamps on it

Keys, Phone, Tech stuff etc will be put into a locker on your way in.
I got in at 1pm. First guy took my documents at 1.30ish?? Then I had an interview asking about my relationship at 3pm.

People are nice. Just make sure to absolutely have everything. That's all they care about - fulfilling their requirements. You will not explain your way to a visa.
