IR-1/CR-1 Visa Interview, 05 Oct 2015, US Embassy, New Delhi, India
Interview Time assigned - 9AM
Since the interview letter indicated not to arrive more than 15 minutes before the interview time, I and my wife both did not arrive too early but it was still 8:30 AM. Please do not carry restricted items, For mobiles/electronics they have a deposit kiosk setup right behind the police post across from the entrance to Visa section. They charge INR 50 per item. May be more for a large item such as camera etc. Last year I was their to get a NOC towards marriage from the embassy and at that time I could deposit the mobile right at the entrance without a charge.
There was a long Q for NIV applicants and all of them were sitting in an area across from the entrance and I believe they had some kind of system to get your number in line.
For IV applicants the Q was relatively small when we arrived but when we entered the embassy we realized there was already a lot or tw... read complete review

APPROVED
I had medical and biometrics in chennai. All very quick.
My interview time is 8.30, as we stay in near by hotel we reached around 6.50.
security guys asked to line up in two queues, one for Immigrant and one for non-immigrant. I went in to immigrant visa queue, and all 7.30/8.00/8.30 all of us put in to one queue.
Security check - simple and easy if you dont carry anything other than documents.
Indian Officer - I had the documents in order as per other reviewes, just opened that file set. I gave it to her. She said your husband has sent lots of documents and returned a pile of document back to me. Then she gave a Domestic Violence pamphlet.
American Officer - Greeted. Then Oath, he asked me to read out. Finger print. He asked me to keep left hand but I kept right hand. It didnt match, again he pointed me out to keep the correct hand.

Bio-metrics was on 30th Sept, you need your DS 160, Passport and appt letter. The whole process took less than 5 mins. The DS 160 was stamped, you need to take that on your interview day.
Interview on Oct 1. Asked the security at the consulate if Medical Xray CD was allowed they said Yes, Stood in line and went in, during actual security check they opened the CD even though it said do not open. After that was called at the first counter where an Indian checked some documents, took the I134, job letter and bank letter and asked "Who'calling you?"
Then a little later was called for the actual interview with the CO.
How did you guys meet?
What are your wedding plans?
What does your Fiance do?
What do you do?
Do you have your Engagements Ceremony pics?
Did you read the domestic violence letter?
Okay your VISA IS APPROVED!!!
The CO was professional and calm.

Our interview was scheduled for 7:30 am on Oct 1. I was able to get that date a week before when I made the payment, DS-160 etc.
We scheduled the biometrics a day before. My fiancee traveled from Chennai and checked into Trident Hotel which is really close by.
There was a long line. So she asked what their appt time was and kept moving to the front till someone said 7:30 and she got into the line.
After they let in, all the K1 applicants were asked to wait in an area. She went to a counter where the Indian officer took her papers. She returned a whole bunch of papers back. Took only one W2 copy and the I-134. She asked some basic questions.
we had our engagement album, boarding passes, chats, phone logs...they didn't even ask for it.
When her turn came, the American CO returned some more papers. He was very polite and put her at ease right away.
