People who had interview date as June 06 2016 at 7:30am had a bizarre experience at the Mumbai Consulate as all the systems crashed at around 8:30am and no one was able to give a definite answer as to when system would be back. We were eventually sent home and asked to come the next day.
I had already finished the first part of the interview process for the CR1 where I was given a token number and then sent to a window where an Indian officer collected all documents including passport, birth certificate (original + photocopy), police certificate (original) and Marriage certificate (photocopy). She then verified my details in the system and asked for my cell phone number. After that I was asked to wait and soon the systems crashed. Since some of us had already submitted the documents, we were given the option of leaving and coming back the day after (something which everyone ended up doing eventually). Before leaving, they put a stamp on the DS-260 confirmation page which said th... read complete review

The process was really easy. We got there and first saw a long line. Do not go to this line, this is for the visitor visa. The line for the immigration visa is much shorter and it is by the front door. We got there and went thorough security. We were then taken to a second building where the interview will take place. We were divided into those from North India and South India. My wife was called up to the counter and an Indian lady asked her few questions about the visa. After that we were given a number and were waiting for the American interviewer. Once our number came up, my wife went up to another counter and was asked questions such as, how did you two meet?; who was the common friend of the family that introduced us?; and how many people were at the wedding?; what is your husband's address in U.S.? In total, we got to the embassy by 7 and were completely done by 8:30. The process went very smoothly, by God's grace.

First lady asks all the doc and questions like where you going where will you stay who is calling you her mobile no and etc..
2nd interview is preety much the same but in my case no proofs were asked as when I tried showing then and responce was we trust you.
So I guest be real and be honest and things are really smooth.

My consular interview for immigrant visa was scheduled for 7.30 am slot at the U.S. Embassy in Mumbai located in BKC. My husband was my petitioner.. I reached the embassy by 6.50. 100s of people had already queued up outside the gate. Not surprising though as candidates from a few other states that do not have Immigrant visa section have to come to Mumbai.
They had a separate queue for the 7.30am batch and had started admitting people in by 7. Keep your passport and interview letter handy for quick entry. A word of caution, there is no good place to sit and wait around the Embassy. So do not let anyone accompany you assuming they will wait outside until you are done with the interview.
Once in, you go through security check just like at airports: baggage check and check by walk in through metal detectors and frisking. Ensure you are not carrying any electronic items like mobile phones, CDs, pen drives, etc. I had a digipass of a bank ( luckily with zero balance) ... read complete review
