The staff especially the american ones.. are very good professionals (so long as you are genuine, i suppose); they know their job well, they also know the indian ways, and they dont underdo or overdo. Also, they put u so much at ease thru their courteous ways..and whole thing proceeded like a casual chat. (Maybe thats when things if any, come out they feel) So overall a good experience.

Now if you want a detailed story , you could read on.. the first part is about the medicals which was pathetic compared to the interview experience, which is mentioned further down..

It was going to be my first time in Chennai. So I decided to do the medicals two weeks before the interview, so that I get a feel of Chennai before my interview.

The interview was very straightforward. The entire process from entry into teh consualte to exit took about 3 hours from start to finish (inc interview). Minimum questions were asked like :

1) Who is sponsoring you?
2) How did you meet?
3) How did you decide to get married? What were the common interests etc?

My husband was asked when he proposed..which he couldn't remember..and neither could I honestly..The interviewer was very rude concerning my prior marriage and the fact that I have a daughter from that marriage. Implying there was no way a legitimate relationship could be in place because of my past. Still..the remaining questions he answered properly and in the end was denied due to my job change from 2 weeks prior. They gave him the blue sheet and I had to get a letter from my employer stating my income and position and start date to verify I still fit the AOS criteria. Overall, my husband said he felt humiliated because of the way the consular spoke to him. But at least we are approved
