Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

Timeline of Interview:

6:30am - Arrived at Consulate
6:40am - VFS asked us to form two queues - Immigrant and Non-Immigrant
7:10am - Began allowing Immigrant interviewees in.
7:15am - Got to the entrance and announcement was made that no electronic devices would be allowed inside. A lot of people (including myself) were escorted out to either give the cell phones to someone or avail of a locker service.
7:20am - Had to go to the back of the Immigrant Interviewee line again
7:30am - Got through security, walked through the quad and joined the line for immigrant interview token numbers
8:00am - Got my token number after submitting a copy of my appointment letter and passport. Proceeded to seating area to await being called
8:20am - VFS employee makes announcement asking if anyone would like to have their interview in English. To my surprise (given that these are people moving to the US!) only 5 out of the 60 people in line... read complete review

Review Topic: F-2A Visa

My wife reached at embassy 9/16 around 6am she had an appointment at 7:45am. After going through security check she was given a token number. She waited an hour before her number is called and asked to submit all the paperwork and then she was asked to wait again. After waiting one and half hour she was called by an young American lady. She asked her:

1. Where your husband works?
2. How do you guys met?
3. who arranged your marriage?
4. How he went to U.S?
5. Where you guys go after marriage?

Then she looked at pictures I sent to NVC.

Then she asked for joint sponsor but she didn't have any joint sponsor because when I sent my application to NVC, I Submitted I-864 and explain them that I made two trips to India last year and also opened my own business that's why my income is low , but my current income is more than sufficient to take care of my wife and the NVC lady told me everything is fine with my I-864.

Today, my fiance had his interview at Mumbai consulate. We would like to share his experience to help others to understand the situation and overall experience.

My fiance had his interview scheduled at 07:30 AM. He lives in Pune so he decided to travel in the night and attend the interview directly without staying in a nearby hotel. He had around 1000 pages in documents so he was carrying a bag and, of course, a cellphone. He had inquired earlier and came to know that there is a service provided by VFS known as "The Stars and Stripes Lounge" where you can deposit all your stuff which is not allowed in US consulate. The lounge opens at 06:30 AM and located at "Trade Center, Ground Floor, Bandra Kurla Complex". They have multiple services and if you just want to use their locker services then you need to pay 200 INR. If you want to use all of their services which includes Locker, Transportation to US Consulate, Refreshment service and Kiosk Service then you have to pay 40... read complete review

My fiance had her interview today at the Mumbai consulate. She was approved!! Next step is AOS filing for application of permanent residency after wedding. But at least we get a breather!!

Overall experience:

My experience with filing the I-129f was excellent as far as processing at California Service Center and National Visa Center. I received regular updates and it was processed in less time than advertised. However as soon as the Visa was transferred to the consulate in India everything was a bit shoddy at best. For example they did not mail even an interview letter to my fiance so that she would me made aware. She had to expedite it through calling repeatedly and sending e-mails. She finally received a pdf copy by email and this was all she received. Furthermore it was up to her to take the initiative to research the requirements and schedule the medical appointment. There was no direction or packets. The ones online seemed outdated and contained incor... read complete review
