We went to the consulate to report our son's birth abroad. I was irritated because there is no place to park, so we had to park on the street and walk with our newborn. Crazy!

Outside the embassy was kind of crazy. Since I'm a US citizen we didn't have to wait in the long line, but they told us to wait off to the side but not why or for how long. After asking a different guard we learned that we were waiting for "the list". Once the list of appointments was sent outside our name was checked and we went through security. Because we had a baby in a carseat we got to skip the line there and move quickly.

Once inside we found the US citizens area and waited for our number to be called. There were only 3 cases there including us on that Wednesday morning. Submitting the paperwork was really easy and simple. Our interview was set for the next morning, so we made the trip down to the embassy again the next day.

The next day we went back to the E... read complete review

My wife came down for my interview. We left our hotel at 6:15 and got into the embassy at about 6:30. We were probably the 50th people in line. We went in at 7:00 and got out at 8:30 - enough time to make it back to the hotel for breakfast. We didn't have any problems at all. We provided the necessary documents- the medical report and the interview letter. The only additional documents that we were asked were pictures, which we provided. At first our documents were checked to make sure we were ready, and then were taken to be submitted to the officer. Then the consular officer interviewed us and asked the basic questions like, "When did you get married? Do each of you have any kids? How and when did you meet?" Then she said, "Well, good luck! You may pay at the booth!" She didn't say if we were approved or not, but we could tell. I guess that was her way of saying so.

Waited outside for awhile but went there knowing that I would. Do not speak to the guys outside offering to help you for $$$ in exchange. Go there prepared. We were very prepared. Had envelopes labeled and ready to give and we were there for only 90 minutes inside. I was allowed in every part of the process from the inital contact, to fingerprints to the interview. The process was not nearly as painful as some of the stories I have read on VJ. I am pleased with the level of professionalism that was displayed through out our entire process.

WE GOT APPROVED! I was not able to go but I prayed and prayed and sang and prayed while waiting for him to call!

Edouard arrived at the embassy at like 6:30am and waited until the opened the door at 7. His interview was like an hour to an hour and a half later and he said the lady he got wasn't overly friendly but wasn't mean. Thank GOD!!!

He said she told him that she needs all the details he can give her. She asked how we met and wanted A LOT of details, my mother's name, about my dad's sickness, how many brothers and sisters I have, does he speak English, Where I live, where I work, Do I go to school, do I live alone, what am I studying in school, what is my age, what is his age, how many children we want, will we have a big or small wedding, will he want anyone special to come to the wedding (he said his mom), she asked what I do in Haiti while I am there as a Missionary Intern.

She said Have a nice trip and told him ... read complete review

My fiance went into interview and was there for a total of 8 hours. The interview he tells me was fine and he answered all questions correctly. The officer asked him my name, number of children I have and where he would live? He was asked of my mother and father and did my mother know him? They asked if I had met his mommy and did she like me?Did my children like him? He said he and the officer were having some laughs and then the interviewer told him that he needed to see me for dual interview. My fiance was shocked and very upset of course. I contacted the embassy whom said they would give me a time to come around my schedule however, another part of the embassy told me these days were unavailable and gave me the date September 4th. I am not happy with this because that's more time from my intended but I will be there 7am sharp!
