HI EVERYONE, JUST WANTED TO LET YOU KNOW THAT MY HUSBAND WENT ON HIS INTERVIEW ON THE 13 OF DEC,THEY DID NOT GIVE HIM HIS VISA BUT INSTEAD PUT IT PENDING. THEY SAY ITS NOW THE LAW THAT ANY COUPLE WITH A CHILD MUST HAVE A DNA TEST TO PROVE THAT THE CHILD IS PATERNAL HIS AND MATERNAL HERS. THEY SAY TO MANY PEOPLE HAVE BEEN USING OTHERS CHILD(REN) AS THEIR OWN TO BRING SOMEONE OVER. THE SAD THING IS THAT I HAVE DOCUMENTATION FROM THE PLACE OF BIRTH THAT I AM THE MOTHER AND THEY WON'T ACCEPT THAT AS PROOF OF MATERNAL STATUS. SO I ADVISE ANYONE WITH A CHILD WITH HIS OR HER SPOUSE OR FIANCEE TO GET A TEST THROUGH WWW.AABB.ORG. ITS VERY EXSPENSIVE BUT IF YOU CAN GET IT EARLY YOU WON'T DELAY YOUR VISA. OUR CASE HAS BEEN DELAYED FOR 3 MONTHS TO DETERMINE THE PARENTAL STATUS OF OUR CHILD.

nana had a great interview that went very smoothly with no problems at all. he got there early, submitted all forms (affadavit of support, tax returns, etc.) first. he then waited for 30 minutes, after which he was called in for the interview. the interviewer asked him questions like:

what grade does your wife teach? (i'm a teacher)

where did you guys meet?

describe your love story.

afterwards, the interviewer informed nana that there have been many cases of fraud, but that he could tell that our love was real....finally, the last words he said to nana were: "i hope you enjoy brooklyn!!!!"

HE IS ON HIS WAY TO BROOKLYN, NEW YORK!!!!!!!!!! YAY!!!

LOVE IS BEAUTIFUL! i cannot wait to finally share my life with my husband...

Kwame's interview went very well. He arrived at 7:30 a.m. and was not called to the window until 12:30 p.m. He was only asked four questions and the interviewer was very kind to him. He was approved and told to come back on the 25th of July to pick up his visa.

So far, the process has been very smooth for us. We were initially given an interview date in June 2007 which was changed to March 2007.

I highly suggest contacting your governor's office (Emily Winterson for those in Massachusetts). Communication with the Ghana Embassy is much faster through the Gov. office. They are there to help. Don't wait until you encounter a holdback/problem.

Going to pick up packet 3 and then packet 4 (appointment letter) at the Ghana embassy takes ALL DAY. Be prepared to be cold in the waiting room, too.

The email address to use is either the U.S. Citizen Services (if you are the USC) acsaccra@state.gov or Consulateaccra@state.gov if you are not the USC. Put the NVC assigned case number in the subject line or body of the message. Phone calls to the consulate are usually unsuccessful.

O had a good experience with the American consular officer. He was kind and friendly. Here's how it went down:

- Arrived 7:00 for 7:30 a.m. appointment.
- Let in at 7:30. Sat for about 30 minutes.
- A Ghanaian woman then called his name and asked for O's papers. O asked which papers she wanted. She would not tell him. She was not friendly and didn't want to help. Finally O just gave her everything and she picked through it and tossed back the rest in a messy pile. She took the evidence of relationship... read complete review
