Fiancee arrives at U.S. Embassy about 7:00 a.m. they let him in along with others at 7:30 a.m. He checked in. Waited to be called for about 2 1/2 hours. His name was called in by young, slim, white guy. My fiancee said he was interviewed between 20-30minutes. He was asked over 50 questions which he answered perfectly. He had over 40 pictures, emails, phone records, my passport copies, birth certificate, affidavit of support, police reports, passport photos, proof of income including W-2's, money western unions, my published book, engagement reciepts, hotel receipts, my senator's letter on his own personal letter head everything. They asked him about my education, my children's fathers, about my divorce, my father and mother, my book, my employment, where I went to college, where did the name brunell originate from, what he plans to do in america, where i went to law school, about the Judge who will be marrying us, where i was born, my birthdate, my childrens ages and birthdates a... read complete review

It went pretty well. I wish we would have known though that we had to get criminal background checks done before Timothy(my fiance) left Europe and went back to Africa. We didn't find out until he got his packet in Accra. Because of that we were delayed because we had to try to get them from Accra. It proved to be quite difficult with the post being so slow and people not being honest with us. Luckily, we got them in the nick of time and his second interview went great with an approval status. I wish we could have found out exactly what he needed before he got the packet at home.

My fiance went to the consulate as instructed to pick up his visa and unable to pick up after 6hrs of long wait. They did not have his packet together. They were asking ridiculous questions like, Oh did you submit your police report. Evidently they have misplaced it and has delayed him picking up his visa since he was approved February 16th. Today is March 12th you will think they will have everything ready for him.... Very unhappy with them at this point. Very disorganized and ineffecient. The sad thing is they are so non chalant about the whole situation. They advised him to come back next friday.

My fiance Abeku waited nearly six hours to be seen. Once he was seen by the consulate, however, things went fairly quickly. The consulate (a White male) was very nice. He asked lots of questions about: how we met, my college degrees, my job, prior relationships and why they ended, his marital status, dates and days of my five trips to Ghana, why Abeku loved me and our future plans together. Overall, Abeku felt that the interview was "very tough" because he was so stressed out about the entire process to begin with. He felt that the consulate, nonetheless, was very easy going and was trying to alleviate his apparent anxiety. The consulate even laughed on several occasions to try to help him relax. This helped him tremendously. He was very pleased with the process. He paid the $130 fee. He also gave the consulate his passport and was told to return in 26 days for his visa.

To deal with the U.S embassy in Ghana you have to have a lot of patience. My fiancee made a lot of trips to the embassy becasue they kept asking for rediculous things. If u share address with opposite sex make sure u notify ur fiancee who that person is. Because of this stupid address issue it took 4 months after his first interview to finally get his visa.In the end we had to pay for him to get his medicals done again because they told us the one he did had expired, when it was their fault that they delayed by giving him a long appt date just to bring a letter to them.
All I can say is don't have high expectations when ur fiancee goes to his/her interview. Relax and just hope for the best. They can really get on ur very last nerve.
