Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

On the day of the interview I was refused entry into the embassy by the guards. Eventually when my husband came out of the embassy he wasn't smiling as I expected. So, that meant as I would soon discover that there in my husband's possession was a yellow sheet that indicated that there was more info that was required. After waiting nearly almost TWO years for the filing process, the CO/embassy needed more info? That information, unfortunately for us,was not something that we had readily available. So, that meant having to request the information from the IRS and having to wait another month to return the tax transcripts. To add fuel to the fire, I went to the embassy the next day after interview to inquire and was abruptly told that whatever the CO requested we needed to bring w/o question. Yes, we understood that point, but the point I made was that the interview appt. letter should have stated all the required items and certainly we could have gotten the info prior to the date. Review Topic: K1 Visa

The first time Evans went in December, they wanted more evidence. March 31st I was the evidence. The man seemed happy but then started asking about my ex-husband,his whereabouts. I didnt know exactly where just the state. I told the CO but I guess it wasnt enough. The Co said that he will expedite the informationa nad have Evans return on the 13th of April. I had made some calls myself and got whatever info I could of my EX. His address, phone number, if he is with someone or living with someone. I gave all the information to Evans and hopefully that is all needed and he will join me soon. Over all, I dont think that it has been a bad process but very tidious. What does my EX have to do with my present love and future husband? This I dont understand!!!!!

This embassy is the most meserable of all embasses. My case was completed at the NVC on May 11th 2010 I thought my spouse would have been here by now but we still haven't got an interview date yet. From this site I've noticed that in all the other countries spouses were able to get an interview date either immediately after their case is completed or at most few weeks after. Something just ain't right with this embassy

Review Topic: K1 Visa

We dealt with this consulate for 5 years before getting a visa (although only 1 1/2 years for the K-1 specifically). If you are working with this consulate, check and double check everything; do NOT assume that they know what they're doing or will perform their work responsibly.

Also, please be aware that it is nearly impossible to talk to a human being in the visa section of this consulate. They don't answer their phone, and they frequently don't respond to emails. Our senator's office in Washington D.C. wrote an email to this consulate to ask a question, and the consulate did not respond. On the rare occasion that they did respond to the email, often the email simply rehashed what we had already stated and did not answer our question.

In short, my advice to anyone dealing with this consulate: get a lawyer, if you can afford it. I can't say that I loved the experience of having a lawyer (or paying for it), but in the end, I believe it was necessary becau... read complete review
