My interview was scheduled at 1 pm. I arrived at the consulate around 12h30. I wasn't allowed to enter before 1. SO 1pm is 1 pm, don't expect to be let in before the actual appointment time.
The consulate is VERY messy and loud. I was compelled to ask persons around about what to do as I was feeling pretty lost: no panels, no signs, just people sitting in the waiting room. A lady that was waiting told me: "just sit down; they will call your name later".
20 mins later, a lady talked in the microphone and asked people who had their interview scheduled for 1 pm to walk to her and turn in the appointment letters. After that phase, I went back to my seat.
An hour later, I was called by the vice consul. I gave her all my papers. She asked me some basic questions like"How did you meet? What's her name?Have you ever been to the US?". She then looked at my papers and told me that I can go back to my seat and the Consul herself will call me later to give her final decision. ... read complete review

If you want to apply for the I130 petition, both the petitioner and the beneficiary have to come to the embassy.
They only give 15 tickets to the people waiting in line outside, so knowing the embassy opens at 1:00pm, i would recommand to come at ... 10:30am
I swear we arrived i 10:45am and were number 12/13 so even 10:00am would be safer.

Then inside you have to wait 3 hours for the whole process (applying, paying, interview) tho the officers are very very nice and helpfull, the interview went smoothly and we even laughed because i met DH on a game server and the officer found that very funny hehe

I gave it a 4 out of 5 for the waiting outside in the cold

K1 Interview in June in Paris.
Embassy difficult to get in touch with for information.
So a few hints that would have been helfpul if I had know in advance ....

You can do walk-in on Friday mornings only but arrive BEFORE 9AM or they do not let you in. You can fax them and they might call you if you put your phone number and answer your questions. You can call 01 43 28 00 86, you may have to call several times they have a tendancy to put you trhu an answering machine but I got an Officer after a few times ........ Insist you need to talk to someone if you have an urgent question.
Otherwise everything OK with the embassy. About 6 weeks for the whole process between packet 3 to Interview.
Embassy is very busy - difficult to hear inside where you have to go so get close to the windows as soon as you go in.
Friendly people I found, once you are allowed to talk with someone !
Visa delivered thru Chronopost (they will ask you to buy on... read complete review

Here is my story.

I arrived a little early and I had to wait outside for the Consulate to open.
Then you are welcome by police men that look in your bag (do not bring bottle of water they will take it away and give it back to you when you go out).

Then enter a big room with chairs all over the place and people everywhere.
At this point of time you do not know where to go because nobody welcomes you.

I found out by asking around that I need to present my documentation to on of the ladies behind the glass wall. And that they would call my name.
Pay attention when they call you because it is very noise and they talk trough a microphone.
When you are called you are asked to present all your documents (they will be collected my the consular person)and asked to return back to your seat and wait until they call you.
They will analyze the documents very carefuly and then call you again to give you your visa.
