Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

My appointment was at 1pm and I was out by 4:15 pm.

My visa interview lasted for 5 mins total. 1st, someone took my appointment letter. Then, someone reviewed all the documents we had submitted to the NVC asking a few questions there and there. Then, my interviewer asked where was I going to live in the USA, where was my husband right now (he was with me) she said "how convenient!" and then she said "Congratulations, you'll receive your visa in the next 7 days".

That was it. Fast and efficient. The only bad thing was the wait. We waited for 3 hours.

Review Topic: K1 Visa

it all went very well, pretty quick. i was scheduled at 1pm. and i believe that 15 minutes later, i was on the 1st window, to give all my papers. 5 minutes after i was called again at the 2nd window, i was asked regular questions: "where we had met", "what was he doing", "how old we were". pretty brief. the lady was very nice, with humour. unfortunately for me, i was missing 2 papers, but she explained to me that it was no big deal, i didnt need to come back to paris, just send them as soon as i'd have them (otherwise i would have had my visa right away!!!). she answered my questions. she told me to go back to my seat. finally another 5 minutes later, i was called again at a 3rd window, she gave me some paper to send along with my missing papers, and that i'll get my visa when they received those papers. congratulations, smiles. very nice. i was out of the consulate at 2 pm!! but without my visa due to my missing papers (which were 1: a spanish police record, for... read complete review

Review Topic: Direct Consular Filing

All in all, a very good experience. Getting information BEFORE filing the I-130 can be hard because they no longer have time to consecrate to questions from petitioners but, in fact, if you go in with all your paperwork, and if you have tried to fill in the forms correctly, they do try to help you at the window. I spent ages on my I-130 before going and the woman interviewing us just corrected it as the interview went along and it was no big deal! The I-864 interview was much easier.

Understanding what to do once you arrive at the Embassy is easy enough... Just read the instructions they give you.

I read here somewhere that someone was sent out into the street to find a Chronopost envelope because they had the wrong size...??? I found that odd because there is a Chronopost vending machine IN the Embassy in the lobby by the soda machines, so...

Review Topic: K1 Visa

Just came back from my Visa interview and it was a breeze.

I arrived about 20 minutes to 1 pm and was first in line to be let into the embassy. After leaving the mboile phone at the entrance and going through the security check I took a number at the kiosk, then took a seat in the waiting area.

I was called up to the window after about 10 minutes. Then another waith for 15 minutes before I was called to the window againto submit the documents. (Affidavit of support, D156, Medical forms) The lady at the counter was very friendly and we chatted about the application process, about literature and the weather.

I was told to sit down again and this time waited for approximately 30 minutes. When called to the window, another very friendly woman took my fingerprints, asked me to sign the letter of intent and the D156K. She asked where I met my fiancée, commented on the engagement ring and asked how my parents felt about my moving to the US. She... read complete review
