Consulate is actually in Guayaquil (is not an option on VJ)
Fernanda's interview went really well. Her appointment was at 8:30 and she got there at 8:00.
She had to wait for a really long time....until around 12:30.
The consular officer didn't ask any questions really about me....just where we met and what she will be doing in the US. He asked her if I had come to see her recently....which I had 4 times in the past year, one of which was in Brazil. The consular officer asked her if she knew portuguese because of being in Brazil and they discussed the language for a little bit. He said she was approved and she went to pay DHL. They took her fingerprints and didn't charge for them. They said she'll get the visa at the DHL office in 4 or 5 business days (good thing because we already purchased a ticket for her to come to the US on 02/15)

***NOTE*** All K-1 Visa interviews are held at the American Consulate in Guayaquil NOT the Quito Embassy.
Now for the review: I am typing this on behalf of my Fiancé Belen, as she is the one who actually went to the Embassy for the interview. I must start by saying that the Consular in Guayaquil was extremely helpful. Belen and I requested an expedite for the interview due to military reasons. The Consular worked very hard to accommodate us, and we received an adjusted interview date that was over a month sooner than what we had scheduled. The Consular was also sure to point out some key documents that Belen would have to have with her for the interview. 1. The long version of her birth certificate. (NOT the abbreviated version or extract) 2. Police certificates for any country that Belen lived in for 6 months or more since the age of 16. 3. Original Copies of Divorce Decrees (Only applied for me, but still required). These are all areas that usually slow the Petition... read complete review

**K-1 Visa interview in Guayaquil (not Quito)**
After we were approved with USCIS things moved rather quickly, although there were significant delays in recieving the NOA2/approval notice due to a computer glitch & the Package 4 -- which was not sent DHL mail, but via Ecuadorian national mail. So, we downloaded Package 4 online and had everything ready which got us in faster for an interview.
My fiance's interview was scheduled for 7 am & he arrived very early before any place to buy coffee was open! Anyway, he waited through the lunch break to be called in the afternoon. The interview proceeded through a thick glass window and he had little oportunity to ask questions or clarify answers. This was important because the immigration Officer asked him repeatedly if he had been to the US before. He hasn't and replied that he hadn't. He stated he's never even been out of Ecuador. She eventually asked him to have digital fingerprints taken for the c... read complete review

I got today my visa approved. I made a really nice and well organized folder but the window of the consulate was like a bank, i had to take every document out of the folder. The lady did not care about the letter of the bank, the employer and the pay roles I have. And the evidence she took was only before we got engaged!
The only things they were concerned was if had overstayed any visit in the U.S. has i had a lot of trips and I told them that i never overstayed. When it came to the Consul, things keep really easy. She asked me how we met, if for both was going to be the first marriage, if i had lived in any other country, how long i stayed in U.K, how long was my longest stay in the U.S. and i do not remember any more questions. I though we were going to have a red flag coz my fiance is almost 17 years older than me, but no question at all.
The interview took 7 min more or less, the waiting like 3 hours and 190 days for having this interview. Just waiting now for... read complete review
