First day you leave your documents at the consulate and they give you another appointment for the next day, same hour in my case. Second day the interview was held by a very nice officer and it didn't took longer than 10 minutes.

The first day is used to deliver required documentation and then the Consulate told fiancee to return the following day for her interview (which they don't tell anyone in advance!). They also make Quito residents fly across the country to Guayaquil (which is on a travel advisory alert by the U.S. State Department for safety concerns) even though the Embassy is in Quito. The method of registering for an appointment was also unduly complicated.
All in all though, the interview was very easy and the male interviewer was very friendly. It lasted only 12-15 minutes. The following questions were asked:
-*Had her swear to an oath*
-Who is your petitioner?
-How do you communicate in your relationship? So you know English? (Began speaking in English)
-When is the last time you saw your fiance?
-Where did you meet?
-Did you like your experience in the U.S.?
-Is --name of city-- where you are going to live?

Overall my fiancée's experience was not bad. The Ecuadorian people working at this consulate was very accommodating. The American consular officer that interviewed her (day 2) was polite, respectful and friendly. The interview was short, did not grasp at straws trying to complicate things, which was pleasantly welcomed. The only negative comment about the experience there is that these interviews are handled in two days, from the narratives of individuals going through this process in other embassies/consulates it appears it takes one day everywhere else. This is a bit of a hassle is you do not live in this city and are not allowed into the consulate with anything more than your paperwork.

**Since he had to travel we planned for a 2 day interview due to experiences from previous Ecuador VJ members.***
First of all, I arrived early at 7am 1 hour before my 8am appointment and there was already a line. There were a lot of people for tourist visas and other types of visas, so I lined up. There was security present outside. When I entered they made me remove everything they checked to make sure I didn't bring in anything other than the requested documents.
Once I entered they asked me if I applied for a tourist visa or for residence visa? I said for residence visa fiance K1 and they took me to a place with a woman at a window asking for each document. I gave her my passport, birth registration and divorce registration. She asked who is petitioning for you? They didn't ask me for financial support, or for other evidence of relationship. They told me to sit in the waiting room because they’re going to call you for the interview later.
