I just want to share my overall experience during our visa interview that took place on Friday, January 27th. I'm hoping to help others during this journey since reading others' comments helped me learn about this process. Overall, the US Embassy in Dom Rep is centrally located and easy to get to. There's a parking facility but one must get there early to be able to park since it's not very big. Anyway, our appointment was at 8 am and we arrived at 7 am. There were a lot of people already waiting. We didn't wait too long to get through the first line once we found out which area to be for K1 visa appointment. Once we went through security (no cell phones or wifi or anything sharp please), we got a number assigned (lucky #146) and waited for our turn to be called to submit the paperwork such as police report, birth certificates, and medical exam results. The lady that took the paperwork was not friendly at all but whatever we waited for her to finish typing whatever she was typing in th... read complete review

K1 Visa interview experience
We arrived late (!!!) to our 7 a.m. interview by 10-15 minutes. I was freaking out thinking that we would be turned away for being late. Thankfully, and for those of you who also will have this happen to you, it wasn’t that big of a deal. The only difference I could tell after it was all over and done with was that we may have gotten out of there sooner. However, I do think that because we weren’t very late by like 30 minutes or more, it didn’t affect our case. I don’t know what would have happened if we arrived later.
The waiting area is huge in front of the building. There were two areas for lines, one on the left side and another on the right side. We asked the security guard which side we should be in for a K1 visa interview and that we were late. He told us to wait in line on the right side. After a while, other people/couples started waiting in line behind us and next to us since there were 4-5... read complete review

our interview was at 10 am but we got there around 9:15 after trying to find parking.
the security check in was very quick. There were two lines, one for residential visas and one for tourist visa. The residential visa line was very short, therefore we made it pass security in about 5-7 minutes.
once we entered the consulate we were given a number and sent to window #8 immediately. the lady at the window asked for my hubbys passport, original marriage and birth certificate. then she said that i might not get approved because according to my 2015 tax returns i don't make enough to sponsor my husband. she told us to have a seat and that a case manager would be with us shortly and to wait for our number to be called. 5 numbers later lucky number 228 was called to window number 6.
the case agent asked us
what is your name?
when did you meet?
where did we get married?
do we have any children?
what are... read complete review
