Solo interview
When I arrived the official told me which line to stand in after I left my phone with the "locker lady" for 350 pesos since this embassy doesn't have any places to leave your electronics. I waited in the cafeteria for about 15 mins before going into the interview waiting area. Its pretty fast up to this point but the waiting is the longer part. There was another line to give the documents which they ask some questions like; whats his name, where does he live, if we have children, if any of us had married before and provided divorce papers; if I came alone. These were close ended questions with the exception of his address. Then the wait began for about 2 hours before my turn. Many applicants made small talk asking why he didn't come which I said there he didn't have to come. I noticed couple of people that seemed to get denials. The other cases that were approved demonstrated happiness by hugging and such.
So my turn came and he greeted me followed by quest... read complete review

My husband Stepson and I all arrived at the Embassy around 6am. Our interview was at 7am. There were already a lot of people there. My husband's uncle dropped us off at the front since there is no parking at the embassy. There are parking areas a little bit east of the Embassy. Cellphones are not allowed at the embassy so we wrote down phone numbers we would need at the end. Since we had a minor child with us we were placed in a line that would go inside first. We first had to do a security search at the first building. They make you remove everything out of your pocket and you also need to take your watches off. After the security check was complete, we were instructed to proceed to another building.
I checked the time entering the 2nd building. It was 6:45am. My husband stood in another line while I sat down. When he was called we all proceeded to a window where a lady reviewed all the papers that were sent from NVC. She first asked for both appointment letters. She t... read complete review

The interview process was smooth and expeditious. We waited in line outside the embassy, which was the most waiting we did. Once inside we were processed at the first window in a fairly timely manner. When we were called to the second window, the representative asked 4 or 5 questions and gave us the approval. Considering that ours is a same-sex relationship, I thought there would be more questions and scrutiny; however, there wasn't - which was a wonderful feeling. We also did not receive any negative attitude or anything. Everyone was very professional. I think the biggest piece of advice I can give is to submit a very complete, comprehensive package; make sure everything is well organized; it should make sense to the consulate and clearly show the legitimacy of the relationship.

The process was very organized and quick. Our appointment was at 7am, we were there by 6am, there was already a big line, but we were out by 8am. The only documents they asked us for were the police report and birth certificates, we don't have any divorce. They asked a few question just to clarify the information we provided on the forms and asked us to show them pictures.
