Arrived at 8:45 for a 10:00 am appointment. We were a March filer in Potomac. Our case was expedited to the embassy. Parked in a lot about 0.1 miles from the consulate. The line for immigrant visas was very short, so we only had to wait about five minutes before progressing through security. Once in the compound we were sent to a window to process our documents. The agent at the window commented as to the organization of our packets and appreciated that the documents were easily pulled for review and stapling. After we completed this submission, we sat in the big common waiting area for about 90 minutes (with my two very young stepchildren, thankfully the youngest passed out). We were called to the one of the counters for our interview. The interviewer was obviously not Dominican, nor did she have a very good Spanish dialect, something that at times made it hard for my wife to understand the questions asked. We were asked where we met, how we met, the story behind our relations... read complete review

Hi, my interview was on November 1st in Dominican Republic. Our appointment was 9:00 am and we got there at 8:40 am. They review our appointment letter and pass for the x Ray. We made a line to deposit the documents. We went to the window 11, the guy just asked for the original marriage and my husband birth cerificate ( no copies ). After 2.5 hours of wailing we were called to the interview with the counsel window 4. Asked for our names, looked at my husband birth certificate and asked is your mom (her name) and your father (his name); then asked me is that your husband (yes). Kids? (No): where, when and how you guys met, tell me your love history. Then she asked to my husband, have you ever went out of the country, have you ever apply for a us visa, have you ever have problems with the justice. And that’s it. You visa has been approved. We are a cr1 marriage and not proof were asked.

Our process went smoothly! They just asked for a couple extra copies of some forms which we were able to make at the Consulate.

Let me just say this has by far been the most stressful experience in my life. I thank god it is finally over and my husband will be home with us soon. We arrived at 8:30am at the embassy and went through security. Upon arrival we had to go to a window and submit the original documents. We we're given a number (259). We sat and waited for almost 5 hours as they had many people. When our turn came we arrived at the window and we were sworn in. The counselor reviewed our documents and asked what year we met and our wedding date. The last question he asked was about our daughter and if we have any other children from previous relationships. After that he said Congratulations your visa is approved. I saw that the majority of people did get approved and the one's who didn't it was mostly because of incomplete documents. javascript:emoticon(' ')
