Our interview was scheduled for Friday June 15th at 6:45am. As soon as we were driving close to the embassy a guy came running towards us telling where to park at the street for $200 pesos hahahaha... I was having so much fun looking at the buscones they tell you that you need to staple your pictures and arrange your paperwork. We said nooo thank you! We got there around 430am and were in by 6:30am. My husband kept telling time like he was an alarm clock and everyone close to us at the line kept laughing about that. I wasn't nervous at all which was surprising. After going through security I was expecting the infamous metal benches but to my surprise all of the benches had cushions and they were not uncomfortable. The had huge fans and it wasn't hot at all. We kept looking around at the casillas (small cubicles bank-like but they were enclosed in front of a huge glass wall... We got lucky number 87 not like it matters since numbers are not called in order but when we saw couples being... read complete review

Hello Everyone,
Here is a recap of our day at the U.S. Embassy in the Dominican Republic-
Our interview appointment was for June 1 at 645am. We stay down the street at Jardines del teatro Hotel for $65 USD. It was clean and the staff was very nice. You can see the consulate from the entrance of the hotel about 1 minute walking.
We get up at 4am all documents in hand and arrive at the consulate, 2nd in line at 430am. It was all quite simple and straight forward.
Around 7am my husband is asked to show his interview letter and is then given a number. Men and women are asked to stand in separate lines in order to go through the metal detector and then be searched, a quick frisk, by security. You are then allowed into the main area where you sit until you are called to a window.
There are fans but no air conditioner. the instructions were to dress business casual and i guess that is different in different co... read complete review

OMG, this was the longest day of my life. My hunni and I got up at 3, showered and got ready. We reached the Embassy at 4. We were 2nd in line. Buscones was so determined but I paid them no mind. The line got so long and around 6:30 ish they separated the men and women and we got in. When I walked in I looked at my fiance and smiled cuz we saw the metal benches. There was one section that had cushions on it and we sat on in but they announced on the speaker where we need to sit so we moved. Our number was 115. We started getting nervous because it was the real deal now. They called us up to window 22 to give our documents. They were speaking spanish, and I said I speak english, so they asked a few questions like, if this is my fiance's first marriage and than we went to window 16 to pay $80. Than they said for us to have a seat. At about an hour and a half they called us to window 13 for his fingerprint, than they told us to have a seat. around 11:30 they called us to window 17, I was ... read complete review

My review is a little crazy.
We arrived at the consulate at 5:30am, we had a 6:45am appointment. The line was long and can be intimidating to some people, but I go to Six Flags often so this wait was a piece of cake, so I thought. They started to let us in around 6:30am, We had #123 and at roughly 6:45am we was inside where we saw the famous metal benches. The benches had these cushions on them, idk if they was new or what but it made the wait bearable.
Maybe after 1 hour we was called window 16 where we gave in some papers and signed some papers. Then we went to pay the $80 and sat down again. By this time we want to the Cafe and got something to eat. Another 1.5 hours and we was called to window 12 for finger prints and told to sit down again. And we waited and waited and waited. At that point my fiance began to chat with some other people to make the time go faster. Our number was called again to window 17 where the man asked me a question in Spanish a... read complete review

Well, I'll start off with the fact that I'm from SPM (San Pedro de Macoris). The only way for me and my fiancee to be at the consulate early enough, was by either staying at a hotel close by, or driving there. Well, we drove. Got up around 2am, and left SPM around 3am with a friend and his mother as our guides for the capitol.
We arrived at the consulate at 4:15am. We parked about two blocks away, where you have to pay 200 pesos (not that bad). We were third in line, and everyone there was just talking to each other, in order to keep themselves awake. Slowly people started arriving and getting in the line. Some people started saying that the line I was currently in, was only for "residencias", and about 20mins later, I decided to move to the "Visa" line. BIG MISTAKE. After waiting until 6am for the "Info" staff to start giving out numbers, we were told to go to the correct line (which was the one we were in the first time). We had to get behind about 100+, but instead of... read complete review
