This is relayed by my fiancee who had her interview May 17,2010. She was also accompanied by her 7 yr old daugher (K-2). Everything previously described is accurate, including the long waits. They do however allow persons with children to go earlier as I was worried about the extended wait. As for the envelope issue, its likely that they don't want any appearance of graft or bribery, as money would being exchanged would be clearly evident without envelopes.
My fiancee did get asked numerous questions about how we met, my subsequent visits to Cuba, and any date set for the wedding. As her daughter was there, she was asked several questions. Like most seven year olds she was initially tentative but once my fiance urged her to speak freely, she spontaneously divulged information, like whether or not she had seen us kiss, where we had vacationed while in Cuba, and what kind of gifts I had brought this past christmas (electric keyboard, markers, books, candies). I traveled to Cuba to be with my girlfriend for the interview. We got to the park in front of the Embassy of Switzerland, where the U.S. Consulate is located at, at 6:45 am. At 7:00 am they started reading the lists of those who were going to be interviewed that day. After three pages of name readings, they called out her name and gave us number 72 and asked us to form a line that didn't start moving until 8:00 am. Just like that, little by little, we walked towards the embassy's gates. When we reached the first security post, they asked me for my passport and after veryfing it they allowed me to proceed acompanying her inside. At 9:30 am we finally came inside the gates and at the second security post they told us that for security reasons we couldn't bring the evelopes inside, asked us to flaten them, and bring everything on hand. That slowed us a littled bit since we had to move from the line and open and flaten every single envelope, including those who served as evidence of our re... read complete review

As many of the Cuban VJ members have said, it was a loooooong wait (6:30am-4:00pm).
She asked us a LOT of questions about our relationship, our family, his kids, my trips to Cuba, places visited in Cuba during my visits, our future plans, etc.
We were interviewed together the first 5 minutes, then I was by myself for the next 5-10 minutes, then my fiance for the same time approx. and both together at the end.
There is a new processing time (I don't know if this effective in Cuba only) but even when the visa was approved at the interview, it takes THREE weeks now to be able to be picked up.
Overall, we were really nervous but we were APPROVED!!!!!
