First off, my situation is a bit different than most here because we were applying for a CR1 visa not a K1, and I was doing it through DCF (Direct Country Filing), which meant that I didn't have to deal with USCIS or dropboxes or any of that crap. I filed my 1-130 form at the embassy in Bogotá in February, mailed all the rest of the documents into the embassy and we had our interview May 6.

First off, it was sunny, thank god!

We had our interview on Friday. On Wednesday morning at 6:15 a.m we went to the lab for my wife to get the xrays and other lab tests. Husbands and others are NOT allowed in, so either stay away or plan to grab a bite to eat. We were first in line when the patients were let in at 6:45 (supposedly they open at 7) and my wife was out by 7:45.

Later on Wednesday at 5:00 we had the doctor's appointment with Dr. Roa, way up in the north of town (an hour on the bus!). Husbands and others are allowed to wait there, but w... read complete review

Our appointment was for 9am today. We arrived 8:20am. We approached the lines and moved over to line 3. After a few minutes jumped upfront to see if we were in the right line. The girl told us to just come in after we showed her our papers. Passed security, like flying out, but they would not allow anything electronic to pass so they held on to my cell phone, iPad and camera. Walked over to the registration or first parts. They gave us a folder and told us to place all of our paper work I. Order as listed. After that turned it back over and the girl said wait till they call you. After 2 hours they called us to window 32, the lady there reviewed our paper work and asked my wife a few questions about our relationship. Once she reviewed everything and dumped several other papers we were told to wait to hear our name again. After 1 hr we were called to window 2 where they took my wife's finger prints then asked again to wait. After another 45 mins were called to window 3. the guy there gav... read complete review

Our appointment was at 9am and we got to the embassy at almost 7am. They divided everybody in different lines according to the cases. We were first in line for the 9am appointments. We later noticed that other people were given a bar code to attach to the passport so my husband went to this other line to get one. As soon as he told the lady our case she gave us a sticker with number 40 and let us in the line to enter the security gate. By the way, it was raining a little bit, very normal,so my advise is to take un umbrella or you can buy one there in line. Once we entered the embassy we were told to go directly to that line 40. There,a lady gave us a folder to put in there the documents that were requested inside that folder. She said that some they already had because obviously they were previously sent to them from NVC,but i went a head and took everything with me and put everything that they requested. We turned in the folder and sat down. Like an 1hr later my husband was called to th... read complete review

It was the perfect day in Bogota..the embassy was basically empty, and the sun was shining! All in all, the whole process from start to finish took about 3 hours, I think that is a record...or close to it lol. We arrived at the embassy around 5:45 because the taxi was going soooo fast. She was called up to the window to submit her documents about 30 minutes after we were let into the embassy. The petitioner is not allowed to accompany the beneficiary at this step..so just save your time and save your seats lol. This interview was actually longer than the final interview because she had to review the documents and asked her a couple basic questions. Next, she got her fingerprints and about 15 minutes later, we were called up to the window. The woman who interviewed us was sooo nice, and I had a feeling we were already approved the minute we talked to her. She asked if my wife spoke English and she said she did so she then proceeded to do the interview all in English lol...my wife did gr... read complete review
