The process is pretty straightforward. When you arrive at the embassy gates, the applicant will need to show the sticker placed on their passport from the biometric appointment to gain access. Once in, you'll stop at a set of tables outside the security screening area where your documents are reviewed to ensure you've brought everything. We were asked specifically for the letter from my employer at this step, so it might make sense for you to bring this along with you as I did. Since we showed up about an hour early, we were asked to wait here until it was closer to our scheduled interview time.

After this step, we passed security and was told to deactivate our mobile devices upon entry and to wait at a set of chairs just beyond security. A quick note: everything takes place outdoors, including the final interview, so be sure to dress appropriately. I would also recommend bringing along some items to keep you busy such as some books or a deck of cards since you won't be ... read complete review

Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

We had an appointment at 9:00 and arrived at 7:30. As others have said there are a lot of people there for tourist visa and they stand outside the embassy. You don't need to wait with the tourist visa applicants, you can walk right up to the visa entrance and show them the passport with the immigrant visa sticker and they will usher you to line 3. They will let you right in to the first check point where an embassy worker will review your original registro de nacimento, registro de matrimonio, police report, 2 passport style photos and your spouses birth certificate (if they attend the interview). After the Embassy worker checks the documents, you need to proceed through security screening similar to an airport. After security, you enter the immigrant visa line which is different than the non immigrant visa line and they will again check your documents to make sure you have everything and you need to wait for a consular officer to call you, who then scans your original documents.

8-22-19: Interview at 8 am, arrived at the embassy at back entry on Cra 45, which was wrong. We were told to walk around to the front entrance and found a lot of people waiting on the street with documents in hand. 90% of them were there for Non-immigrant visas. There were 2 ladies at the front on the sidewalk answering basic questions and pointing people to the correct line (NIV and IV lines). Line 3 was for IV DS-260 applicants, and there was a checkpoint just outside the embassy gates at a small table where a lady had us pull out all the original documents that are necessary to proceed inside the Embassy. Once we passed there, the security officers scanned our belongings like at the airport, and then we walked down a sidewalk. The next step was to walk inside to a huge outdoor 'courtyard' where the Consular services take place. At the first station, another person sitting at a table quickly looked at our documents and checked us off a list and had us sit down to wait. We waited f... read complete review
