I went with my fiancee for her interview on October 22, 2009. First, we almost had a problem at Helm Bank when paying for the visa application fee. You must have the case number for the receipt. Just a minor detail, but a problem if you wait until the day before the interview to pay the
fee and get the receipt, which is affixed to the fiancee's passport.
The mechanics of how the documents must be arranged, which lines at the embassy are assigned for the different kind of visa applicants are discussed well by other VJ reports, so I won't repeat them. The interview was as intense as it could get, so be prepared.
A short history of how I met Monica might be insightful and explain the extremely through examination that she and I underwent at the interview. My best friend is a wealth lawyer and was in Medellin on business last year and met my fiancee at her law school during a conference there and through one of her professors. He offered he... read complete review

Arrived at 6:30am and left around 2:30pm. Everything was smooth and easy. Unfortunately we were put on AP, but that was not the Consul's fault (nor anyone elses for that matter). AP only lasted 30 days and we were informed via e-mail on a weekly basis as to the status of our AP.
After 30 days, AP was over but we needed to file form I-212 with local office. I-212 was approved in 27 days. Second Interview scheduled with Consulate to turn in Passport and copy of approved I-212. Got there at 7:00am and left at 11:30am. Very easy, very nice people and very helpful. God luck to everyone.

what a hassel. Two interviews for wife. Required new tax return and I-864. Wife approved. Children next. New tax return, I-864, letter from work, pay stubs , deposits, showing sufficent income. God, I make $20,000 from Social Security. Never mind the good job. Well over the required poverty level. Two interviews. Denied children. WTF ? Plane tickets bought and went to waste. My age is over 60 and wife was told verbally they wanted co-signer because of my age. Age discrimination? Anyway, wife found friend in USA to co-sign. Visas approved during 3rd interview. Never count on getting visa approved even if everything is in order. There are unwritten rules at the embassy, and they make the rules.
