Review Topic: K1 Visa

The other reviews on here were VERY helpful. I will try to not duplicate anything but point out new information that will be helpful.

We arrived at the embassy around 6:00 AM for our 7:00 appointment. This was the time when they started opening up the overall line and splitting into the four different lines. We walked directly to line 3 (THANK YOU VISA JOURNEY!) and we were the very first ones in line 3 and the very first ones they processed through. IMPORTANT ITEM: The entire interview process happens outside; you will be standing outside talking through glass windows to folks sitting inside. There is cover in case it rains and there is a Coffee Stand (Cafe Iguana) and a Crepes & Waffles but I wasn't expecting to be outside the whole time. As others stated, they gave us the laminated page with the order of the documents they wanted. IMPORTANT ITEM: DS-230 was NOT listed on that sheet, but at the window, the lady asked us for the first two pages of the DS-230 and ... read complete review

Hmmm where do I begin?

We woke up around 3AM could not sleep so we headed out the door around 4:15AM and arrived at the embassy around 4:30AM. Yes we were the first in line. Around 5:15AM another couple came but was there for a visitor’s visa to visit their kids (they were later denied along with dozens if not hundreds of others for visitor visas). It was very cold but not raining (yet) but when the sun came up it warmed up a little. The guard Policeman allowed us to the black containment belt (he will say don’t go past the black line but its like one of those movie retractable restrain belts) around 6:15AM a ladies voice came over the PA giving instructions on where to line up based on visa application. We were first inline for line 3 and second inline for window 29 because Milena read another review about making sure the paper work was right before you handed it in. Around 7:15 AM window 29 came to life (the last window to raise its shades) which made us numb... read complete review

It was fairly simple ...the stress is the way...My wife went to the window and they only ask her about three questions, MY NAME?, WHEN WE MARRIED?, WHERE I LIVE?...The only screw up now is the made a type error on her visa packet...her visa passport starts with AL and they typed AI.. now we are waiting for them to correct before DHL receives it !!!

Review Topic: General Review

My fiancee went for her interview and was approved for a K1 Fiancee VISA on Thursday 3/22/12. Unfortunately I couldn't be there with her because of work but she did fine without me...Two things that stood out to me about her story were that one Colombiana who was there after being denied the first time was denied again even though she had all the paperwork because she forgot to bring updated photos as proof of her ongoing relationship. My fiancee also said that several people were turned away due to arriving after 7:30am. My fiancee of course was there by 730am but ended up having to wait until 1130am to get interviewed. They made her pay an additional 25,000 pesos because the photo she'd placed on the DS156 was at the top instead of the bottom of the page. She had to go back to the internet cafe to print a new DS 156 and they helped her fill it out...She did note that they treated her well and were not mean about it...

Clau´s interview was scheduled at 7:30am, but we got there at 7:00am. When we arrived, there was this huge line of people. If you are there for a K1 or K2 visa, walk towards the embassy and look for the sign that says line 3. We could not see the sign with the line number because line 4 was so long, so just walk towards the embassy and you will see line 3 has only a small number of people waiting.

Security took our cell phones while we were in the embassy, but no problem getting it back when we were finished. We were handed this laminated card with the documents they wanted and in the order they wanted it. They also wanted and kept the confirmation page from the on-line system when you scheduled the interview. As I said in the beginning of this post, the DS230 was not mentioned on the card, but I think you should bring it anyway, since a prior poster said he was asked for it as recently as 3/19/12. For her birth certificate, the card never said anything about turning o... read complete review
