Review Topic: K1 Visa

We had an appointment for 8am. We arrived at 645.

The short line was for K1 VISA

We were well prepared thanks to this site.

Interview on the phone through the glass in an outdoor plaza.

The female officer spoke Spanish to my wife.

She never spoke to me but acknowledged my presence.

We were done by 815am , approved.

Positive experience.

We had no problems with our interview or paperwork. Best thing is to make sure you are prepared with ALL of the required paperwork. I think most people laughed at my three inch thick folder but we left with an approval and that is the desired result right? This process is real easy if you have a real relationship. I wanted my wife to be able to plan her wedding but if we would have waited until she came, we wouldn't have had answers to many of the interview questions. We studied all of the typical topics like each others family members and our experiences together but the details of our wedding plans seemed to make a big impression with the interviewer. Best to be relaxed and honest.

Review Topic: K1 Visa

I had my appointment at 10am, there was a huge line but just for tourist visa, so I just walked to the front and asked to the helping lady what should I do, I told her I was there for my K1 visa, she said I should wait in line #3 and someone else will help me, after 5 minutes a guy asked my name and find me in the list he already had, and gave me a green sticker, after that he said i need the papers in the following order: DS-160 confirmation page, Birth certificate, criminal records (Pasado Judicial), medical exams, Affidavit of support I-134, passport and 2 pictures. after pass the security point I was in, and a second lady asked me if I had all the documents in order, I said yes, so she said I could go and do the line in the window #4, there were just 4 people so it was pretty quick, the lady behind the glass asked me to leave all the documents in a envelope she got me and she started to asked me questions over the phone, she checked my case number and bring it, it was a big file :D... read complete review

I don't have much advice to offer that hasn't already been said multiple times. Two things that I would emphasize would be accompanying your spouse to the interview and bringing your W-2s. I sent them to the NVC but I was still asked for them at the window. Luckily, I did have my 1040 and she made me fill out another affidavit of support. The whole process including waiting in line was less than an hour. A couple interesting observations from the interview:

a) She allowed my wife to interview in Spanish.
b) We studied over 40 possible questions in English, but all in all my wife was only asked about 4 or 5 and they were very easy questions. No tricks.
