My fiancée arrived in Bogota on Sunday evening, five days preceding the interview. This allowed her and her daughters ample time to complete the lab work and have medical exam. On Thursday my fiancée and her daughters completed the biometric processing. Thankfully, she has family in Bogota who were gracious enough to welcome her and the girls into their home for the week. The day of the interview my fiancée and her daughters arrived at the embassy at 8:30'am. K-1and CR-1 applicants were separated from the rest of the folks seeking other visas. My fiancée was instructed to file the documents she had in a specific order then report to a Colombian national who ensured everything was in order. She was then given a number an instructed to wait until her number was called. She waited about 45 minutes then was called to an American consulate officer. The officer asked just a few questions regarding the times we have been together and if all the information provided to the embassy ... read complete review

K1 Interview in Bogota, October 2016
In order to increase the probability of my fiancee passing her K1 interview in Colombia, I thought it important to have a firm understanding of how the process evolves specific to the one consulate that performs the interviews: Bogota. So, prior to my fiancee's interview, I extensively searched the internet to see how the interview would take place. I found legal services that promoted themselves as authoritative on how to prepare for an interview, but they were quite generic, and I would bet almost none had ever participated in an up to date Colombian interview. And, first and foremost, I was searching for information specific to Bogota. I did find about four testimonials, but I can now say, after having participated in the interview process, their information was stale. Over the past five or so years there have been substantial changes.
So, I try to offer you a detailed and up to date understanding of how the K1... read complete review

The interview process seemed like it took forever, we sat down at a booth with a glass partition and spoke via a phone. Similar to what you see on TV when people make prison visits. The questions were straight forward, but they ask them very quickly and really don't give you a chance to think. Where did you meet, when, how many times have you seen each other, where are you going to live, what type of work does your fiancee do, how many kids does he have, was he married before, how many times has he been divorced. Where is he right now, are you going to live with him. So the questions are straight forward, BUT then they asked my daughter some of the same questions which made her feel uncomfortable. I understand its a process and must be done, so all in all it was OK. At the end of the interview, the consulate wished us a great trip and life in the U.S. and said our visa was approved.
