The interview was straightforward and quick. The appointment was for 08:30, we arrived around 08:00, and by 09:10 it was all finished. When we arrived my husband presented his passport at the gate and went in through the security screening (any food or electronics such as your cellphone must be left with the guard while you're inside). I was not allowed to accompany him, only the people doing the interview could go in. He was directed inside to the principal waiting area where there are a number of windows to interact with the Embassy officials in the back office. He waited a bit and then was called up to a window. There wasn't really any privacy, he said he could overhear other people's interviews at the nearby windows. They requested to see the medical exam envelope, the marriage certificate, his other civil documents (background check, his birth certificate, etc), and the joint sponsor's I-864 form. He was asked a few very basic questions and then told he was approved! Here are the ... read complete review

Medical Exam: This was the hardest and probably most confusing part of the whole process to be honest. There is a general lack of information about what to expect so I will write our process. There is only one doctor in all of Chile who can complete this. Considering how long Chile is, it is quite a pain. Luckily she lives in the region of Valparaíso, but I truly feel bad for people from Arica or Punta Arenas who need to go through with this. The doctor was never rude, but the lack of information he provided and the attitude he had didn't give us much faith in him helping us if their was a hiccup, so I want to go in to detail about the process we had to do.

We first contacted the doctor about 1.5 months before our interview to which he replied that we are scheduling too soon and we should call back in March. We called again on March 1st and the doctor was more accomodating, but didnt explain any of the process to us. He simply told us to tell him a date that we ... read complete review

The interview was very straightforward and quick, by far the least stressful process of the entire visa journey for us. There was about a 3 hour wait at the embassy prior to being called, but that was the only "hiccup" if you can call it that.

In January 2020, our US attorney scheduled the first available time available for an interview for 10am on February 14, 2020. We received notice a week before that his time had been moved up to 7:50am for the February 14 interview.

Our attorney instructed him not to bring his cell phone. But upon arrival he was told it is permitted; they simply hold the phone at the front desk until you depart.

He waited with four other K-1 applicants. He was seen fairly quickly and the process was fast. He was asked when we started dating, how often we had seen each other, when we became engaged. No challenging or difficult questions.

He had a Denial of Entry on his account from April 2019 when he came to visit me. CBP agents told him he couldn't do his online work while in the US while using ESTA. So he was sent back to Chile. The consulate employee asked him about it. He explained that he was denied entry because he works online and didn't know that was... read complete review
