Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

There aren't any recent IR1/CR1 visa reviews for Santiago so I hope this is helpful for anyone applying now. My husband had a very good experience today at his interview. He was in and out within an hour. First, a Chilean woman asked him some basic questions in Spanish: how did we meet, when did we get married. Then he waited a few minutes before he spoke with an American man, who began to speak to him in Spanish but one of the first questions was what language do we speak to each other, to which my husband replied "a mix" and then they switched to English. They also asked what university I went to, what city I live in, and what was our relationship to our joint sponsor. Though we had received an NVC checklist for our joint sponsor's IRS transcript, they did not request it. The only paper they requested from my husband was an updated certificado de antecedentes, which luckily he had thought to get even though it's not on the embassy list of things to bring. They also briefly checked th... read complete review

Review Topic: K1 Visa

Interview process took a total of about an hour and a half. Fairly smooth process. They kept the original documents except for birth certificate they kept a certified copy. For the affidavit of support they only received 2017 1040 and W2s, they wouldn't take any other supporting documents. They didn't ask for any proof of relationship, they only asked a few questions about how and where we met.

Review Topic: K1 Visa

The process for my fiance was fairly straight forward. After handing them the packet 3 with all the information requested they reviewed the information for about a half hour. Then she had a couple interviews, one in Spanish one in English (though they asked her if she spoke English, and since she can they proceeded in English). The questions were pretty standard: how and when did you and your fiance meet, when have you seen each other, explain overstaying a tourist visa 5 years ago (she accidentally overstayed her tourist entry by a few weeks one time), etc. Afterward she was informed she was approved and they would email her when she will be getting her physical copy of the visa in her passport.

We were pretty nervous for her going into it (just from hearing horror stories, etc.) but it was a smooth and friendly process.

Review Topic: K1 Visa

It was a quick interview with the consular office, probably in and out of the embassy in less than an hour.
Fiancé and me were asked about how we met, and I was asked about previous entries to the US (I held a J1 visa in the past).
Overall, very painless experience.
