I know that specifics helped me a lot so here is my experience

Our appt was for 8:30. We got dropped off around 7:15 thinking we would grab a coffee and come back but there was already a line so we decided to just get in the queue. We were let in a few at a time just after 7:30. The one guard at the door is grumpy like everyone says but not a big deal. Definitely don't bring any big bags..or multiple bags!

They check your passport, put a tracking sticker and give you your #/instructions.

Next is security. Put everything in the bin including belts. They will tell you what you can keep and what to check. The checked boxes are small which is why no big bags etc. We left our phones in the locker but got to keep wallets and gum. We went to the first waiting room and were almost immediately let into the elevator. We were given sheet with our number before security and all the documents they wanted and in what order. I had or... read complete review

My interview was yesterday, but it did not go well for me!

I arrived at the consulate around 8:10AM for my 9AM appointment.
The security process was quick, they got my phone and Apple Watch as expected and put in a locker.
Then, I went to the 19th floor and waited about an hour to call my number for documents and fingerprinting. The person who asking for the documents was so kind and patient and everything went smoothly and then asked me to wait to be called to see the officer for the main interview.
I waited about half an hour to be called for the last step, interviewing with the officer.
The officer was a nice and patient lady, asked few questions about my relationship, how/when I met my wife, what my wife does for living, my status in Canada. At the end, she said you are eligible to receive your visa, but unfortunately I cannot give it today because of the presidential proclamation that bans Iranian passport holders to receive visa!!! She s... read complete review

My interview experience was similar to what most others had. All the preparation and fellow reviews on visajourney really helped, so here’s mine.

Tips that worked for me – get there early and be prepared for a lot of waiting. I arrived at 8:20 for my 9am appointment. I was out around 10:40. There were many people before me, and only one person conducting interviews, hence the long waits.

I had already arranged my documents into an expanding file folder and didn’t bother rearranging per the ordered list that they provided. Since I had organized the folder meticulously with tabbed/labeled sections and quadruple-checked everything, it was easier for me to pull things out of here.

I was overdressed in a suit-skirt. A lot of people were in jeans and t-shirts. Some women had nice dresses on and there were two men in suits. I took off my jacket partially because it was a hot, summer day in Montreal and stuffy insi... read complete review

Very polite and professional people working in this US Consulate. Made the whole process less stressful. I was extremely nervous and full of anxiety going into the interview, not to mention going on minimal sleep. Going up to the counter to verify documents, the gentleman working the window was professional, descriptive and patient. The interviewer was exactly the same. I would hope everyone has the same experience I did at this US Consulate.
