There was a lot of waiting for my turn to be interviewed. They did not call numbers in order, so we were kept guessing when our turn was going to come.
When it finally was my turn, it was fast, less than 5 minutes. They asked me a handful of questions, then handed me a letter and said "Welcome to the U.S."

I had my interview this morning at the consulate in Montreal, my appointment was for 7:30am there were a handful of people waiting to get in as well. I went about a half hour early to wait in line.
The overall process was fairly simple and easy to follow, you go inside check in and go through the security check. I decided not to bring my phone in or have any bags just my binder and wallet/jacket. Made it easy as I was allowed to keep everything on me.
They give you a number and a sheet to organize all your documents and you head up the elevator. You head to a waiting room to be called up to submit your documents (the staff were extremely nice) as long as you have everything there shouldn't be any issues. 100% Make sure you have originals it is very important they require wet inks on all the documents your fiance needs to sign and all documentation that requires a seal like a court record, police check or divorce records you gotta have the originals. Warning: I've tried to make this as detailed as possible so it's a bit lengthy, LOL. Like everyone says, the interview was the easiest part! Took a total of 45 mins vs the medical which took about an hour and a half (at the Medisys clinic in Montreal). I was in Montreal from August 1-8 with my medical on August 1 and my interview on August 8. I picked up my medical on August 6 - after being notified by email that it was ready. I stayed at L'Appartement Hotel on Sherbrooke, downtown, and I would highly recommend it. It is an apartment style hotel so they have a full kitchen, living room and dining room. It was $173/night which was comparable to the rest of the hotels in the area. The medical clinic was about a 5 min walk and the consulate was about a 10 min walk form the hotel. Metro station is also about 3 mins walk so it was easy to get around and sight see. They offer a free, typical hotel breakfast, and I saved a bit more money by picking up groceries to make lunch in the hotel kit... read complete review

Here's how it all went down..
I first went next to the food court in Eaton Centre to leave the stuff I couldn't bring in a locker there, which cost $1. Then walked to the location where my interview was schedule. My interview was scheduled for 7:30 AM, which I arrived around 7:15 AM but seemed like it was first come first serve as a few people was already there lining up. The security officer then walk by all of us to make sure we didn't have anything that was prohibited and for the one that did, such as having a backpack (even if it was containing their baby stuff) was advised that it was prohibited. They then made us go 2 by 2 inside and another security lady made sure I guess, of our names on a list and gave us a plastified paper with a number and a list to follow on how to place our documents in order. I had #7. We then all organized our documents and waited for another security agent to let us go to the 19th floor which we had to wait for our number to be called. Once my nu... read complete review

I had my CR1 immigrant visa interview this morning. My appointment was scheduled for 8am. I arrived at the consulate at 7.20. The security guard came out at 7.30 and asked us to line up. We were then called in to the building one at a time, based on our interview time.
Once inside, I handed my passport to the woman at the podium by the front door who also asked my name. She put a sticker on it for tracking and handed it back along with a laminated card with a number and instructions on it. She then asked me to wait at the next door to be called in for security screening, which they did one person at a time. Inside security, they had my put all my belongings into a plastic tray and I walked through the metal detector. They then took my cell phone and gave me a ticket to retrieve it after. I was then sent down the stairs to the left where there is a waiting room.
Another security guard then came out and let us all into an elevator that had been roped up. I... read complete review
