Flew from Vancouver (cried when I found out the Vancouver office was closed..I didn't know..this is so cruel to make us pay $1000 to fly here, open Vancouver again!) and drove in from Toronto (family there) in a snowstorm (early April 2019). Most BEAUTIFUL city, I recommend you try and stay two nights just to make the best of it, eat French pastries, bagels, montreal smoked meat sandwiches, drink some wine, go to a sucrerie!
The interview itself was nerve wracking and surreal, but a breeze. Had an early time slot (8?) and was the last on the first load up in the elevator (buttons for floor 1, and 19..we went to 19, it was spooky only seeing those two buttons! I thought to myself "We're not in Canada anymore!"). I waited for 45 nerve wracking minutes (I chose not to read, I wanted to keep my mind focused on what I was doing) and watched the 15 people in front of me go down a narrow badly soundproofed hall and come out either happy, or serious...with a pink slip, or not D:... read complete review

My fiancée and I made the trip together to Montreal for the interview (November 26, 2019). She waited in the Second Cup at the street corner while I went in. Different sources said "show up a half hour early for your interview" or "come exactly at the time indicated." We decided to show up a half hour early, but sure enough the security guards at the entrance sent me away. They told me to come exactly at the appointed time. I had initially thought that the security guards worked for the U.S. government, but later I noticed they worked for (I believe) Garda, a private security firm used regularly in various places around Montreal. Maybe it was another firm; I lived in Montreal for ten years and remember seeing their logo everywhere. The Consulate proper was actually on a floor of the building... read complete review

As expected, took 3 hours. Please bring a book or something that you can read for 3 hours. No electronics. Would have been nice if they offered some reading materials that weren't government leaflets.
