It was a little nerve wracking but all in all things went fine. Everyone was very nice and once things were over my flight back to Calgary was in about 2 hours so the lady said she would try real hard to have my Visa ready so I could take it home with me. She got it ready.... I could have kissed her!! Yeaaaahh!

Well.. I'm home, and we have passed that "last" test. Our apt. was at 2:30pm and we attempted to get into the Consulate around 10:30am, but were denied entry due to our interview being in the pm. They said "go to the mall - come back at 2pm". After 3-4 hrs at the mall (which is down under the Hyatt - on St. Catherine St. 2 blocks away), we were ready to get this thing UNDERWAY!! After we prayed, we went back to the consualate and were 2nd in line. We had emptied EVERYTHING out of our pockets in our car and only took paperwork (in an accordian file which was marked by tab for each thing on the checklist), and got through ahead of the couple before us (except Brent's key fob (remote access) - that is considered "electronic"). They gave us a claim ticket for it and sent us to the 19th floor. I paid the cashier and got a number to go to a wicket (there seemed to be confusion between the cashier and the paperwork taking lady -not sure which way that's supposed to be done). The lady ... read complete review

There was a long wait - I was the only K1 at the door - they were waiting for me at the desk but the front door people made me wait in line. That was a bit of a problem. If you are a K1 YOU DO NOT wait in line with everyone else...remember that
I submitted my paperwork and had a brief interview - and then just like that it was over. I was very organized tho and it helped a lot. I took a photo album with me and other things - that helped.

So I went past all the other people lined up outside up to the 20th floor and past the 2 security checks. I had the papers all in order or what I thought was order. The guys at the second security check gave me the wrong sheet... the one for the K3/4 visa instead of the K1, but that was okay. There was just one other K1 applicant with her fiance there... sitting on the chairs right infront of the few counters they have off to the left of the room that's on the left... hehe. The lady organizing the papers wasn't having a good morning she was running behind and the other fiance's dr had messed up her papers and had other issues. So I get up to the counter and all went alright. They weren't too happy I didn't have a letter from my fiance's employer. But I did have his statement of Leave and Earnings that the Military supplies. The other issue was that I took the birth certificate I was given when I was born and it didn't contain both my parents names on it s... read complete review

We went to see the cross street of the consulate to see where it was and we realized we forgot the interview letter. D'oh! Her parents we going to courrier the package until we found out it was $400 for a same day delivery. They were willing to drive and meet us half way. We thought how much it stunk to get this far and forget the piece of paper that would let us in the building. We had the letter faxed to us praying that would work. We went to the consulate the next morning and a woman came out to ask why we where there. We explained the situation and she said not to worry about it and to show our passports the next day. God is good! All this worry for nothing. The fax worked fine and no one questioned it.
Her interview was at 9:30. We didn't get there until 8am. I laugh about the elevator comments b/c I pictured a huge cargo elevator and it was small. I also wanted to say I got in with lip balm without a lable and someone had a nice bag with their documents. We were t... read complete review
