It was like having a job interview except there was only one person asking questions at a time.
The security guards are a tad tense, but I suppose they may need to be at times. Once upstairs, everyone was nice and polite. The gentleman who did the interview was very nice. Questioned both my daughter and I about a variety of things. He did his best to give me approval for both but due to the "reasonable access" part in the agreement, he couldn't approve my daughter's without her father's consent, which I didn't get.

i left home around 6:20 and walked there relaxed. by 6:45 i was in front of the entrance alone..hehehe
Then about 5 min. after a girl for a CR1 came.. and another k1 couple, and another k1 girl and someone else we didn't talked with much.
7:30, they open the door and ask everyone passport + interview letter.
I go in first at the security checkpoint on the left and a so-so half rude, half neutral security gard ask for my things to put in the tray... goes through xray, of course my wonderful person is ringing..lol.... have to go through the other check with arms open etc.... they will then give me the letter B window#9. (the second girl went with the other gard who was faster and nicer).
Then they ask to wait downstair till beeing called.... We chitchat then about 10 min. later 2 gards come out from the elevator, asking the first 5 persons to come in.... they look quite serious but are still funny when they tell in their radio code from aviatio... read complete review

When you arrive, there's a sign that reads "Visa pick up at 2:15pm, no loitering" outside. So right away, I was relieved that I didn't book my flight to leave that night. Whew.
The security guard will remind you that there's no electronics allowed inside; you'll get your stuff searched through as they will make certain you have NO sealed envelopes. Then you go up the stairs where you will have to wait by the elevator until a guard bypasses the elevator to allow you to go to the 20th floor.
On the 20th floor, there is yet another security check. Same thing again. Then, the guard will unlock the door of the waiting room for you. They'll give you a sheet of paper reading to tell you what documents to put in order. I cant remember it specifically though as the window clerk later took it from me. But, a lot of stuff I took with me turned out to be useless. (Still, bring everything.)
I got called to window ... read complete review

So I was quite nervous but I had no reason to be.
Here's how it went.
So at the bottom of the building, there's a security guy catching you outside or in the in-between door and making sure you dont have prohibited objects such as a bag, a large purse, electronic devices(btw if you have a cell you can leave it at the security checkpoint and take it back on your way out), ...
You go thru a airport-like security once in the building.
After that you go to the 19th floor and get a ticket at window 14(says cashier over it). I think I arrived too late, even tho it was 30 minutes before my schedule time. Im not sure but I think youre processed as you come in no matter what the time they put on your packet-4. So they give you a C-number and wait for the screen to display yours. Mine was c-11 for instance and when called I went to the window displayed on the screen.
The nice lady there asked me for my ds-156K, birth cer... read complete review

We got to the consulate at 6.45; earlier than we'd intended, but there ended up being no traffic at all. So we sat in the car until 7 (it was raining), then walked up to the entrance. The signs there said they didn't open till 8.30 so Scott got kind of annoyed with me b/c we were there so early (first in line, no one else there yet). I assured him I knew what I was doing b/c of my good friends on VJ and that the doors would open at 7.45.
Actually, they let us in before 7.30. We went through security and then downstairs to a waiting room. We were given the lovely letter A. I do like being first (competitive nature).
After a short wait the guard took letters A-D into the elevator and up to the 19th floor. (The consulate actually has a gorgeous view of the city, btw.) We went to a window where we were asked for our appointment letter and passports. We sat and waited a bit longer. Then we were called up again and asked for ... read complete review
