I first and foremost want to thank everyone that posted complete minute by minute details of their stories from the time they arrived at the US Consulate in Montreal until exiting the building after the interview. I really appreciated all the information, and it sure helped in easing the nerves and preparing for my interview. I arrived at 7am on the button and was very surprised that no one else had arrived before me. (The cab driver insisted I was in the correct location)! Not even a minute later, a group of 5 people arrived, consisting of a family or three and a another couple getting married. By the time the doors opened a 730am, there was approximately 9 people in total waiting to get in. I received the proverbial "A" card and was escorted into the building where all your belongings are scanned. As advised on this blog, I only took in my binder of required documents, and a small purse, that contained nothing but some cash, a credit card and my passport. I did not bring any el... read complete review

DV 2011 Interview at Montreal in October - placed in administrative processing 221g - how long wait?

Both my wife and myself had applied for the DV2011 lottery. We were common-law in Canada when we applied in 2009. When we applied for the lottery, we included each other as spouse even though we were not legally married as there was no option for common-law in the lottery and we did not think we were single.

A few months back my wife won the lottery. So, while filling up forms we sent to Kentucky (we entered our marriage date as the date on which we had our common-law marriage - i.e. November 2008).

Also we got legally married in July 2010. We went to our interview in Montreal in October 2010 and we provided evidence of both the common-law and legal marriage.

The interview with the consulate officer was okay except a few small things that I found weird
- for e.g. he asked us to provide an address where we would be liv... read complete review

I had my medical and interview all on the same day so I was worried about how that would all work but it is fine, plenty of time for both.

I arrived extra early to the consulate, waited to go in, they need 2 security guards before allowing people in. I was escorted to the 20th floor, told to wait until my name was called to window B, about 20 minutes. Once called to window B, I was asked for all my documents, she gave me a sheet and said she needed everything in this order, sent me to the cashier to pay my $350.00, went back to window B with the receipt. She looked it over then told me to have a seat and once she made sure everything was here I could go back and get my medical results and come back for my interview, she even offered to keep my extra stuff there until I got back so it was less for me to worry about. I had a huge folder full of pictures, extra copies of stuff, anything I thought I might need for the interview.

There was only 1 other pers... read complete review

Sorry this is so late - life has been whirlwind lately. My interview was at 8am on Wednesday, November 10th. Arrived at consulat at 7:20am, third in line. Doors opened at 7:30am. Brought in and scanned and sent to sit in adjacent room. "Guard" comes in about 10 minutes later and ushers us all into elevator. Sent to the far right (from the elevator) to wait for our names to be called. Called to window 12. Handed over all required documents (she didn't ask for any copies of forms already submitted, nor of proof of relationship). Sent back to wait. Called back to window 12 for fingerprinting. Sent back to wait. Called about 3 minutes later to room 3 (i think!). Young, happy, gentleman working there. Made if VERY comfortable. Entire interview took about 5 minutes. Back in hotel by 9am and on the road for the 12 hr drive back by 9:30.

It was cold in Montreal. My fiance came to the interview with me, we were the first ones standing at the door. some others showed up just before the doors were opened. we went through security without any problems and we were led up to the 18th or so floor of the building. We sat in a large area and waited for our name to be called it didn't seem to matter that we were there first, as the couple behind us was called up ahead of us. and then we were called, we went back down this little hall to a group of windows like you would see at a small bank. with bullet proof glass and a little pass through slot, they took my finger prints, gave us a card to go and pay for the process and then we returned to the waiting room. as we sat back down another person had shown up, she was called back almost instantly. As we waited for the next step I felt dismay at the time it was taking. the couple that showed up after us was called back again. and after about five minutes came out they had been accep... read complete review
