We got there around 7:15am and waited in line outside until about 7:30. They wanted to see our interview letter before they would even let us in the door. Once we showed the security guard our letter we waited to go through security. It was like going through security at the airport. We then went down the stairs and waited about 15 mniutes. There was a photo booth there incase you forget your pictures!!! We then crammed ourselves in the elevator and went up the 19th floor. Once we got out of the elevator we got in line and got a number. We sat down and waited for our number to appear on the screen. When our number was called we went back and they asked for the beneficary's passport, the 2 pictures and the medical results and also wanted a DS-230 filled out which I already had done . We were then asked to go sit down and wait to be called again. We waited about 30 min and out number was called again. This time they asked for the AOS, police check, marriage certificate and beneficary's l... read complete review

The medical went very smoothly, in and out by about 8:30 AM.
Medical was approved by 1:15 PM the same day (July 6th, 2011) and had my results immediately and out the door.
Interview went by smoothly UNTIL it was pointed out that my father was a US Citizen, and by law, it is illegal to issue a K1 Visa to a possible Dual Citizen (Such as myself)
I now have to go through a totally different route, figure out if my biological father meets the residency requirements and then file for a US passport.
I wish I would've known at the very beginning before Alex and I set out on this adventure, but I didn't find out until May of 2011, 2 months before my interview and about.. 6 months after we had first petitioned for my K1 Visa.
On the upside to all of this, I may not have to give up Canadian Citizenship, and neither will my 3 year old daughter.. and if I cannot prove that my father met the residency requirements, then our K1 Visas are alr... read complete review

Dear Fellow VJ Members:
We prepared for our interview based on the information made available from VJ and can vouch that this was 100% accurate and helpful. BTW, we had hired the most expensive attorney earlier whose service was truly pathetic, we had to guide them based on the information gained from VJ.
Key things to note for your interview:
1) Arrive early, relax and stay cool
2) Get all the necessary documents and please keep them well organized. No big bags, belts, electronic devices etc.
3) Stay cool, Montreal consulate has perhaps the best officers, , they like simple cases with well organized supporting documents.
4) Be honest and this will give you the necessary confidence
5) The questions posed are simple and answer it honestly and keep it crisp
6) Some of the questions that they asked us were
a) how we met?
b) Wher... read complete review

So here is my review of the Montreal Consulate. Its a few days late, but after my interview I stayed and visited with family in Quebec for a few days, so I just got back at 1am this morning.
On Monday (the 27th), I arrived outside the consulate at about 6:45am. There was one couple ahead of me, and I'm glad I arrived when I did as shortly after the line started to grow. It was to the end of the block pretty quick. At 7:30, the guard came to the door. He had us all move to the other side as apparently we lined up on the wrong side of the doors. oops. One by one they let us in and through security. It was pretty quick and we were directed through the door to the left, down the stairs, and into the waiting room as we finished our security searches.
Once we were downstairs, the couple ahead of me took the two closest seats to the elevator, and I sat beside them. The elevator was corded off, and we waited for someone to come and bring us upstairs. A... read complete review

My interview was yesterday, June 29, and am now home in Alberta. Three flights and three hours late however. I will write a separate note on the hotel after. I got up at 5:30 after having slept right through the night. I was not nervous obviously. I went down the street to Tim Hortons and got a coffee then walked to the consulate. I had my folder, my sunglasses, my smokes and lighter and my reading glasses. Got to the consulate doors at 6:30, a man was about three steps before me so was second in line. He was from Calgary and is immigrating to Oregon. We got talking and I asked him if he was on VJ. He said no. Imagine my dilemma at whether or not to tell him the secret about the elevator, I opted not to. I wanted that C1. LOL. Anyway he used a lawyer and didn't even know about DHL!!! A few minutes later a lady from Toronto showed up. She had two bags with her, one to hold her large exrays and the other a small backpack. The doors opened promptly at 7:30 a.m. and we were le... read complete review
