Review Topic: Medical Appointment

I had my medical back in February 2022 with Dr. Zatzman. His office is on the second floor. When I got to the office, I saw all the seats had been taken (limited seats for social distancing) and I was told to wait outside the door if I was there for a medical immigration appointment (they did not ask for my name, so I was kind of worried if I was supposed to check-in or not). Nevertheless, they called my name about 20 minutes later and asked for my appointment letter and passport. Then took pictures with their own camera (so you don't need to bring passport photos with you), paid the fee, and was given a paper with my picture on it with my case number and other details, and then was told to be seated and the doctor will call me. About 20 minutes later the doctor called me. He asked for my vaccination record, I had actually prefilled out the form they have on their website and wrote the dates for my vaccinations that are listed on that paper and got it signed by my family doctor. He rea... read complete review

I was in and out of the building within 30 min.
There was a line up but they call people based on their appointment time. Don't bother showing up till a few min before your scheduled time. You'll just be waiting outside.
Do not bring backpacks, large purses, etc. They will send you back to your hotel to leave your bags there (a couple people had to do this). They will give you a small lock box for your phone and keys. Only your wallet you can keep with you when you head upstairs.
Everyone was very polite and courteous. Honestly it was the easiest part of this whole process.
My visa was created right away. My appt was April 4 and I received my passport w/ visa back at home on April 6.

Everything went smoothly for interview.

With covid protocols security will only let you in a few minutes before your scheduled time.

Interview Mar 14, 2022. We have been married for 15 years, living in Canada. My wife (US sponsor) had no income from the previous 3 years, so we knew it would be sticky issue. However, we had over 1 million in fluid assets in Canada. I, as the applicant, had good job, $60,000 annually, which would continue in the US, so we thought our bases were well covered. However, the consular officer had his mind made up before even speaking to me. Any asset not located on American soil or in an American bank was worth exactly $0 for his calculations, and any income not declared on an IRS income tax return was worth $0. It was a simple matter to do a money transfer to our US account, but it still triggered a 221(g) refusal with the corresponding delays.

Would it have been better if I had uploaded a I-864A to show my income which would continue? I don't know. Next time I would definitely upload any updated information, and not simply have it available at the interview. Like... read complete review

My interview was at 7:45am on Jan 21, I got there at 7:30 and waited in the line outside till about 7:50-7:55. Overall, I was there for 1.5 hours.

Once upstairs, I was called to the first window where they asked for my passport, marriage certificate, police certificate and birth certificate. The lady confirmed some general information for both me and my husband (name, date of birth, Canadian/US address and phone #s). She then asked about my name change since I applied with my maiden name at the NVC stage (using my old passport), but had gotten a new one in my married name in the meantime, so I showed her both passports. She asked if I had any documents to prove the legal name change, I told her I didn't have any document like that since I didn't go to a court to get the name changed, instead just assumed my husband's last name. I went to Service Ontario to get the name changed on my driver's license and health card initially, which were then used for the name change on m... read complete review
