at long last

Here is our experience for the Vancouver Consulate.
Appt. was October 22,time was the normal 10.00 am. We arrived there around 9.40. We had stayed the night at the Days Inn which is located just on the next block 921 W. Pender 117.00/ night plus 20.00 for parking. A little steep we thought but paid for the convenience. I had just had knee surgery on the Thursday so was hobbling along on crutches.When we arrived the line was to the first set or stairs. The fellow came over and asked us what we were there for and said K1. He then said "let me see if we can find you a wheel chair" Not available, but he brought us passed everyone and got us through right away. We thought that was awesome. Only problem,, 16 steps to go up to security. Then had to do a pat down and have my crutches checked over. Once we did that we walk back through the scanner and up we went to floor 20. We found parking for $11 a day that opened at 6am a few blocks away from the consulate so we decided to use it to be on the safe side. We were at the consulate by 6:15am. There's a Tim Hortons nearby if you need to warm up or grab some breakfast.
Once we got in, we went through the security screening proceedures and we made sure we didn't bring anything other than the absolute necessary. I had left my purse in the car and we only brought the non-electronic car key and the documents. My fiancé forgot he had headphones in his coat pocket, which the guards took from him but he was able to recover them after the interview.
We then went on to the waiting area and took the elevator to the 19th floor with everyone else. We were the first ones in line but let the lady behind us get the C1 ticket so we received C2. They call specific numbers by windows which means that window 1 only calls C1, C5, C9 etc and the same idea goes for the other 3 windows. As it was, ... read complete review

I arrived at the Montreal Consulate at about 7:05am, there was one person ahead of me who said he had been there since 5:30am. More people started to show up shortly after, and there were at least a dozen people in line by the time they opened the door. I had an accordion folder with all my paperwork and just my car key (no other keys). They checked my courier letter and passport and sent me on to the scanner, where I had to take off my jacket, empty my pockets, and walk through. The man at the scanner was very nice and warm and welcoming. He took my car key and gave me a little claim ticket for it. I went downstairs and sat right by the elevator with the man who was ahead of me in line. After most of the first group of people were downstairs, they opened the elevator and I went in, moving to the back of the elevator since I knew it opened at the back. My experience with my interview has been no different than many others. It was very simple, but very nerve wracking! I was the second in line, just behind a fellow Visa Journey forum user! I arrived around 6:40am and the whole thing was done at about 8:40am. It was very calming to meet and talk to the others in line.
They take your passport and confirmation letter right at the door, and you go through to security. Then down the stairs and wait for the elevator. Going up the elevator seemed like the longest and most awkward elevator ride of my life! Arrived at the 19th floor, got my ticket and received C3! They did call the numbers in order this time around. They nearly immediately called three of us up, and they asked for the birth certificate, police certificate and copies of my passport. In my case, there was some stickies on my previous submission with notes on them. Journey
We started our journey in February 2012 for our CR-1 Visa. We met on Chemistry dot com a year ago this month. Eight months after starting this process and we are finally approved. Because this is a CR-1 we must have our interview performed in Montreal. We were given our Interview Date on September 17th and it was scheduled for October 9th. Before we could go to the interview we still needed to get the medical exam performed. We decided to go early to Montreal, get the exam, and make a honeymoon out of it. Montreal is an awesome place, but very expensive.
The Medical Exam
We stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn Montreal Centre-Ville. A very nice hotel and I give it a 5 star rating. It is located just one block east of the MediSys facility and about a 10 minute walk north of the Embassy. It has a Pool, Spa, and Gym which we used daily.
