The other reviews here got us plenty prepared for what to expect on the day we had our K1 Visa interview. Some of the points I'm bringing up are just reiterations of what other people have said before, but trust me, it is worth mentioning again.

We stayed at the Phillips Hotel and Suites, which is within very close walking distance of both the US Consulate (also called US Embassy, they're one and the same so don't freak out, there's only one building and it's easy to find) and Medisys. Medisys is one of the locations that someone can get their required Medical done, and they offer either to ship the results to you for a $50 fee or you can pick them up yourself for free. They open at 7AM on weekdays normally, so we decided to save a bit of money and pick up the documents before heading over to the consulate. Leaving the hotel at 6:30AM, brisk walk to Medisys takes about 15 minutes, then with papers acquired, turned right back around for another 15 minute walk to the C... read complete review

Our experience at the Montreal consulate was pretty good. We definitely did our research before heading out, and I found this thread to be particularly helpful: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/359761-montreal-consulate-picturesmaps/

We (my fiance, the USC, and I) stayed at the Hotel Le Dauphin, which was about a 5 minute walk away. The night before the interview, we did the walk to the consulate to ensure we knew exactly where it was and how to get there.

On the morning of the interview, we left our hotel right around 6:30, and there was no one at the consulate. We decided to walk to the Tim Hortons, so we got coffee and walked back, and were still first in line. My fiance was saying to me that we would probably be the only ridiculous ones in line that early for an 8am appointment, but just as he was saying that, a lovely young lady walked up carryin... read complete review

-Appointment times do not hold any precedence. It is essentially first come, first serve.
-Wait time after entering the building for us was about 2hours. In total, we spent 2.5hours at the consulate.
-Our interviewer was pleasant, and fully engaged in conversing with us during the interview. He made us comfortable, and feel at ease with the questioning.
-We noticed most interviews were 20-30min, but ours was barely 10min.
-Important info for Montreal interviewers:
1) Make sure you check in at the window the the L of the elevator once you get upstairs (the arrows are not noticeable, so many people were missing this step).
2) Ensure you have your Loomis reference # with you when going to the consulate... It is required before they will even let you in the building (us, as well as many others around us were turned away for not having it).

We were told not to arrive more than 20 min before our 10:00am appt. We walked over at 9:30. There were a lot of people lined up already but when we told them we were there for K-1 they knew who we were and directed us to the front. I think there were only 3 K-1 interviews that day. We met 1 of the other 2. He did not know about Visa Journey and used an attorney. A mistake as he was not as prepared as we were. He did not know he had to bring the sealed medical envelope and did not have the proper Birth Certificate.

They let us in the building after about 10 minutes (good thing as the temp that morning was 34 deg F) we went through a security check (no purses or cell phones allowed) and then escorted up an elevator to the 20th floor. They sent us to window B, collected our documents (complimented us on our organization) and told us to sit down. 15 minutes later she called us back. She instructed me to be quiet and then asked Jordan to say and spell my last, ... read complete review

Sorry for the late review, but catching up on our timeline. Our appointment was for Tuesday morning, august 28th. We I drove up from Rhode Island and my Fiancee flew in from Toronto to meet me. We splurged on a room at the Fairmont Queen Elizabeth, with a short walk to the consulate in the AM. Our experience was much as described in previous postings (thank you) except......We arrived at about 6:25, wanting to get a good place in line. We are only ones. 6:45 - only ones (we are wondering if something is wrong. 6:50- one other guy shows up and has walked a long way. He is the only one for a while. We chat and eventually ask what is in his backpack. He freeks out when we tell him the rules. He has walked a long way and has no place to put his phone, etc.. Next to show up is an oriental family (also burdened with electronics). They are freaked as well, make quick friends with the Dominican Republic guy and head off to hide their stuff. Everything else goes "somewhat" accordin... read complete review
