Arrived at the consulate at about 6:15am wanting to be first in line. That was not a problem. Other people didn't actually show up until 7:20!
I lined up to the left and eventually other people started to line up behind me. Guard showed up at about 7:30 I think and us in the door one by one. The lady at the front entrance asked for my passport, Loomis and interview letter. I had those out already and ready to hand over to her. So this part was fast for me. People did show up with bags but since I was in early I don't know if anyone was turned away.
Some people had medium bags once they got downstairs though, so I guess it wasn't an issue??
Go through security just like at the airport, down the long flight of stairs and I promptly took the seat Saylin indicated, right by the elevator.
About 20 min or so later once more people arrived downstairs a guard came down and asked us to form a line in front of the elevator door. I got on first, and stood at the far... read complete review

My fiancé and I both arrived in Vancouver on a Saturday. He flew in from Houston, TX and I flew in from North West British Columbia. We stayed in a lovely basement suite that was easily accessible from the airport and to downtown by skytrain. And MUCH cheaper than getting a hotel room especially if you are staying for a week like we did.

On Monday morning I had my medical exam with Dr. Cheema in Surrey. We woke up extra early and gave ourselves plenty of time to get there since we were taking public transit. Public transit in Vancouver is a blessing! Having lived in Vancouver before I knew how to use the transit quite well but even if you have never been to Vancouver it's easy to use and there are always people to ask.

We arrived in Surrey about an hour early so we went to the Starbucks across the street to kill time. When it was time to go in there was a gentleman ahead of me who was also applying for a visa it looked like. After waiting a couple of minu... read complete review

Arrived outside the consulate at about 620am (second in line)
Grabbed something to eat a few minutes later from a cafe in the same building (husband held spot)
The first 4 people in line were all VJers so we started chit chatting a bit.

Eventually they started to let us in.
I assume at about 730 since none of us knew the time (sans phones).
I know there was a lady there with a stroller, a large diaper bag, and a PHONE and she got in just fine.
I don't know what they made her do with her phone (if anything) but she came in just like the rest of us.
Show passports and loomis confirmation upon entry.
Empty pockets, walk through detector, get frisked, go sit by elevator.
All the while, they're still hiding the time from you like it's a national secret.
Photobooth is still there for those that need them.
Everything else in the room seems ancient (passport pricing from 2005, yeah ok)
Eventually up the... read complete review

My medical exam was on Monday morning with Dr. Cheema. My appointment was at 8:30am I got there about 8:15, our hotel was a little closer then we thought. the nurse took my letter with my name and case number on it, my passport and my vaccination records, and filled out the form. Asked me a few questions and then I sat down and waited to be called. A nurse took my weight and height and then dr cheema came in and did the rest of the exam. He checked my vision, blood pressure, eyes, throat, checks for lumps on your stomach and lower stomach area and that was it. I didn't have to change or anything, I wore a strapless sundress. Because I arrived early for my appointment, I got in to see the Dr. early. There was no wait really, I was out of there by 8:37.
Then I went up the road for my xray and blood test. The longest wait was in xray. I was out of there by 9:20 or so.

The interview
It was on July 10.
We stayed at a hotel within 10 min walking distance. ... read complete review
