I just (successfully!) completed my interview at the Montreal embassy and thought I would share about my experience... it was SO helpful to have Saylin and everyone else's notes and maps and details beforehand!!

First thing -- my interview appointment said 10:00 am, and I was a little worried that they wouldn't let me in at 8:00 (when the doors open) but we decided it was worth the risk of being turned away to try. We showed up at 7:40 and were about 5th in line; by 7:45 there were literally 20 people behind us, so our timing was good!

The next 20 minutes were maybe the hardest of the whole day: it was SO cold outside (-17C)!!! At 8:00 they started very slowly letting people in, two at a time in to the lobby.

The security guard outside checked my interview letter and passport; then there was a lady in the lobby who wanted to see my Loomis confirmation. Somebody behind me didn't have their Loomis confirmation and it was causing a big fuss, so... read complete review

The interview itself was very straightforward. All the questions asked were of the basic fact-checking variety. The wait for the interview was the hardest part as there is no clock and the room was absolutely full and very hot. While waiting I could hear other people's interviews for the various visas. The only ones that had any issue had not done the proper paperwork or had done something illegal. My interview was all of about five minutes long.

Aside from the wait, the only downside was I had to make two trips to Vancouver because the medical and interview were scheduled two weeks apart. I could have requested they be re-scheduled, but we didn't want to have to wait longer.

My interview was at 10 A.M. The process was very simple as you can only line up outside the consulate 20 minutes before your appointment time. My entry was very simple as the majority of interviews are for students or residence. I showed the guard my appointment slip and was jumped to the beginning of the line. Once inside the consulate I went through normal security process. After security I was seen by a women who made sure I had every document. There were a few people who were turned down as they didnt have the proper documentation, of course I brought more than I needed. She then proceeded to give me a number and I would be called to a window for the interview. I waited a total of an hour and a half total and was asked only one question. "How did you meet?" I was approved.

Darren was sooo nervous, like everyone else! He arrived at the consulate 45 minutes before the scheduled interview, and he was the 4th person in line. Once inside, everything went surprisingly quickly. He took a large binder with him that contained tons of "proof". They didn't want to see phone records, not even any pictures! They made copies of his forms, and congratulated him. It really was easy, and everyone was all smiles that day!
