We would like to note that anyone going to the Consulate in Vancouver should give themselves LOTS of time to get there! Traffic can be terrible, especially on weekdays, and they do not allow you to line up more than 15 minutes early to your interview. There are three parking garages around the Consulate. One is south and two are north. We paid for 2 hours of parking which came to about $20 CAD. It also rains a lot in Vancouver so dress appropriately and be prepared! I (Amy) have family there so I wasn't too shocked about traffic or weather. John on the other hand had some adjusting to do. :P
The interview was scheduled for 10:00, but we did not get into the building until 10:35. We went to the interview together and we both found that the Consulate staff and security in Vancouver were nice and helpful. We were a bit concerned that they would be like airport security, but that was not the case. We waited the longest in the queue line - which can get a bit chilly considering it is... read complete review

APPROVED!!!!! *massive squealing and happydance*
Firstly, A big thank you to all my fellow VJ'ers for all the information and making this process a lot less stressful!
I had to travel to Montreal which is about 7hours away from where I live, in pretty terrible weather. It took us 12 hours to drive there, 9 hours to get home. But we made it safely and that's all that matters. My mom went with me on the road trip because my fiance and I have planned for him to come up at the end of the month with his parents for a going away party and I should have the visa before then. I will travel with him and his parents back to the US after their visit. If for some reason the visa isn't in my hand by then (a full month after my interview) I will fly down a bit later but I should be able to travel with them by then and they are coming up for a visit regardless.
We stayed at the Travelodge hotel on Rene Levesque Blvd. Cheap room and a fairly short walk (... read complete review

I was so nervous prior to going, but really I was worried for nothing. The part where they check your documents was actually scarier than the interview itself. My police certificate was done with les Commissionaires, and it was stamped with a black stamp, and they had doubts for a moment that it was a photocopy because the stamps wasn't embossed. I was worried I was going to have to redo it, but after looking at it more closely they took it. woot! I had arrived before the doors were opened and got C3. I was out of there very fast. It took a week before my passport was sent out, and a few more days before I could pick it up. It was actually at Lachine, but Loomis had a problem with their scanners or something and it wasn't showing up as ready to be picked up on their system -_-;
But all in all, it was a good enough experience. I shouldn't have stressed the way I had. But it's always easier said than done :D

As most of the other said, the waiting is the hardest part of the interview. I had my interview in Vancouver on Jan. 16th 2014, and it was relatively straight forward. Don't go too early because they won't let you in. We got there 15mins before our schedule 10:00 interview and we were still waiting for 30mins. After going through security and then handing in all the required documents, we had to wait for wait for another hour or so. The room is small and you can hear everyone else getting interviewed for many other types of visas.
Our interview was simple. My fiance came with, and the interview let him answer questions too.
Here are the questions he asked:
1. Where did you meet?
2 When did you meet?
3. When did he or she propose?
4. Have we meet each other families?
5. When are we getting married?
6. Where will we live?
Then he said congratulations, you are approved!! Wooohoo.
I was a... read complete review

Sorry for the late Update
Thanks for VisaJourney!
My fiancee flew in 2 days prior to the interview. We had a good time together but a little bit nervous. The night before the interview,we sat down together and reviewed all the documents needed for the interview. Making sure we don't forget anything that all the legal documents were translated in english. We gathered all the pictures in order and then prayed and went to bed. We woke up at 5:30 am. left the house around 6 o'clock. It was an EXTREMELY FREEZING morning. For what I have read in VJ they would normally have a line up of people around 7 but I think because of the weather nobody was there yet or they must had been hiding somewhere. We parked right in front of the consulate in a little alley so we could have a good view of the front door in case they decided to open early.Around 7:45 we went to a parking lot and parked the car. Walk in the freezing cold canadian winter to the cosulate. After showing my pass... read complete review
