I got the account from my husband as he was the one who went to the interview. After a six hour drive to Montreal from where he lives, he said the hardest part was finding parking with all the french signs He arrived an hour early and was let in. They took him through security and made him turn his phone off completely. After taking a number it was a bit of a wait in the waiting room. His appointment was at 10am and they called him right around that time. The person interviewing him was courtesy and just asked him general questions. Nothing very in-depth. They asked how long we have been married, they asked about his parents since his dad was born in the US but moved before he was 3. They did give us a slight delay. My husbands passport expires in May and he plans on renewing it this week. They said to send in the renewed passport and then they would send out his Visa but all in all to consider ourselves approved. He was out of there by 10:23.

Hi everybody!
I did the same process with Immigration Canada. The entire process took Canada 3.5 months, the U.S. 15 months. Just to put things into perspective. It sure was a loooooooooooong wait to get here.
The week went overall smoothly and the interview process was done quickly; that was also because I had more information and documents on me than originally requested. Reading all the reports here was unbelievably helpful! People were turned away because they didn't have the proper paperwork on them or the officer couldn't understand them or whatever. That must be unbelievably frustrating. Thank you to all who shared your experience here, so I could benefit.
Right after I got my interview letter end of March, I called Medisys to book my medical appointment. They book you in 3-4 business days before the actual interview to have the blood work results ready. Then I booked hotel and flight. I flew in on Sunday night with the medical sch... read complete review

This was for an interview 26 Feb 2014.
First, thanks to everyone at VJ for all the advice along the way (and especially to Saylin; the layout of the Montreal consulate is key to a quick visit!).
Interview was at 8 a.m., so I showed up at 6:30. -15°C with wind and snow meant no one else was there till 7, with bulk of people arriving starting at 7:15. They opened the doors at 7:40 (about a dozen people in line at that point); I let an older gentleman go in front of me as he was trying to return his green card sponsored by his sister as his "company still needed" him (at 62), and as it was expiring in a week he didn't want to leave it outstanding. Okay....
A person with a clipboard and papers looked at my passport and appointment letter and asked if I had all my documents (didn't check them), then ticked me off and I went through security. Down the stairs on the left to the elevator, I sat closest to the elevator, as the diagram suggests. ... read complete review

The visit to the Consulate really ended up being as easy as everyone says! I think you psych yourself up the days before hand, worrying about how it will go.
I got to the consulate at about 6:45 am, my hotel was only two blocks away, so it was a short distance to walk. I waited outside until the doors opened around 8. The buildings here really become a wind vortex, so if you're going when it's cold out, be sure to dress warm!
Once inside, I went through security and down to the basement as previous reviews indicated. As I had checked out reviews before hand I knew exactly where to go! Once the elevator came, I stood at the back, since the doors are double sided and open there. It was fun to see everyone squeezed up against the front hoping to get out first!
I was off of the elevator first, and got A1! First in line! I was quickly called up to the first window to present all required documents, and finger prints. Easy! From there I sat back d... read complete review
