I stayed at Hotel des Arts. It had horrible reviews, but our stay was perfectly fine and the walk to the consulate was a very doable 15 minutes.
I arrived at the Consulate at 7:00am, nice and early. It was raining, so I was happy to have all my documents in a protective folder. There were about three other people in front of me. When it came time to enter, the officer instructed us to have our passport, DS160 confirmation and appointment letter ready. We were called in one by one to have these documents checked*. From there, we lined up to wait to be called into security.
I brought nothing but my paperwork and hotel key with me, so security was a breeze. If you bring your cell phone, they will hold it for you at security until you leave. Security guards were very nice. I just put my stuff in a bin and walked through the metal detector. The security guard told me to go downstairs and wait.
I waited by the elevator and when it opened (at 8:00... read complete review

Here's a general review of our interview experience.
We stayed at the Day's Inn Downtown Montreal about a mile down the road from the consulate. Nice hotel, convenient location (tip: Go get a pizza from Amellio's. Best pizza we've ever had. It's about a mile from the hotel we stayed at). We got up around 5:30am, got ready, had coffee and walked down to the consulate.
We arrived around 7:00am. There were about a half dozen people standing out front (including VJ member Elaine; hanging with her made the whole morning a blast), all lined up to the right of the door. When the guards opened the gate at 7:30, he had us line up to the left of the door, as was laid out in Saylin's walkthrough. (Another tip: I carried all my paperwork, contained in an organizer, in an otherwise empty satchel. The guard had me take the paperwork out of my satchel and leave it behind. I found this odd, as another woman had a purse larger than my bag, and full of stuff, but she was ... read complete review

After all the stressful waiting, running around gathering documents, trying to fit my whole wardrobe in 2 suitcases I can finally breathe in and relax.
I had my interview today June 2nd at 8 am. We took a cab to the consulate because we didn't feel like driving and wasting time looking for parking. We found it crazy that we had to get out of the cab a block away from the consulate only because we didn't have any more cash since the driver took the longest possible way there. Basically we hit the construction area and wasted time on making a detour which made a 2 minute drive seem much longer. Beware of cheap drivers with taxi meters running a lot faster than their cab is moving!
So my fiancé and I got to the consulate at 7:30am and there was a small lineup that was moving well as they were gradually letting people in one by one. As we were called in the security guy at the door asked my fiancé to get rid of his cross body laptop size bag that only had... read complete review

I am happy to say we were approved today in Montreal. I am more than relieved!
Went to Montreal yesterday. Stayed at a lovely hotel call Le Dauphin on Rue Bleury. A 3 minute walk to the Consulate. Small boutique hotel with full breakfast $136. ($20 for parking)2 block walk! Bought the room off internet to get the rate.
Now the stuff you really want to hear. Please remember I am the biggest worry wart EVER!
Arrived at Consulate 7am, 2nd in line. Doors open at 7:30. Then someone told me you can only arrive 20 minutes before your appointment. Mine was for 8:30. So I let a woman doing a K1 Interview in front of me. Then I saw VJ members Blair and Chris! Amazing that I actually recognized them. We had a lovely chat and basically went thru all the steps minutes apart.
They let you in at 7:30 a couple or person at a time, go thru security (very thorough) (note people were told they cannot bring in phones, bags etc, I had le... read complete review

The staff were pleasant to deal with and the whole process went quite smoothly. I had all of my documents packed in the order requested, but with dividers in between which they asked me to remove (I guess I was over organized). They only asked a few questions about how we met, where we worked, and how many kids we each had. It was just nerve wracking waiting to be called up to the window lol!
