We really lucked out! We were scheduled for the first appointment of the day on a Monday with only 2 other applicants in line. My fiancé and I lined up early (unnecessarily, it turns out) and got our numbers while outside the consulate. From there, a security guard let us both into the building and we passed through a small security check. I had my documents in a folder and we didn't bring any bags or electronics with us (including cell phones).

We waited in the lobby downstairs until another security guard let us onto the elevator up to the consulate offices. Once my number was called, I went to the counter with my fiancé and submitted the mandatory documents (photos, appointment confirmation, birth cert, police cert, etc.). After I entered my fingerprints, we were instructed to wait until called up for my interview. My number was called a few minutes later and I went up alone. I was asked a few questions about where I was born, our intended address in the U.S., and ... read complete review

Hi everyone,

I am sharing my experience for my interview.

I arrived at the consulate early in the morning, at 6:45 am and my interview was at 7:40 am. There was only one girl outside the consulate, she is active in this blog as well. She was super nice with me and we started talking. She gave me all the information regarding the procedures because she read this blog and she knew what to expect.

We were in line on the left side of the entrance, because there is where the cards will put the line when they open at 7:30. When the guards came out they put the line and a lady showed up with a list of name. Since I was second in line, I entered and after the security, I received a number (#2).

Once we were let on the 19th floor, we were called by the number we received, so my interview was just 15 min after I sat down.

Don't stress out about the question, they are super nice and they are quick, so as long as you answe... read complete review

Interview went well! Just needed an original I-864 which is strange because i mailed it in... Also they needed her translated birth certificate from Malaysia. Other than that the officer indicated that once those items are received, she'll be approved! And the consulates computer system crashing this month didn't help.

Hey everyone.

I just got back from 24 hour trip to Montreal. Suffice to say that I got approved. Below is quick recap.

My interview was at 10am, but I was allowed in at 9:15am and everything was quick except when it came to for my interview, I waited until 11:00am for my interview. Once I was in there it took 10-15mins. Below are some of the questions I was asked

1) Are you resident of any other country other than Canada?
2) When did you meet your wife?
3) When did you get married?
4) Have you ever been denied entry into the US?
5) How long has your wife been in the states (she moved back June 1 for work)?
6) Where does your wife work and what does she do?
7) You have a Nexus card? (Yes I do have one)

Then he provided me with a magical letter. It was 10mins but I couldn't sleep the night before. I tried to ask him a question regarding the backlog and he replied "I cannot comment on tha... read complete review

Soooo sorry but I've been extremely remiss. The tornado of life sucked me in deep.

I had my interview in late May. Stayed at the Marriott Courtyard, 3 minutes from the embassy. I got in line at 7:35 for a 8:30 interview. They just started shuffling people into the building. Many people were turned away, making the line advance quickly. Many were spouses and others too early. I got #12. I was upstairs by 7:50 and out by 9:20. Was able to take the 747 back to the airport and catch an earlier (noon) flight to yyz.

Nothing new to report other than some pointers. Best not to expect protocol to be followed as others posted.

a) The officers let many people in with handbags, purses and pouches along with paper files...and they were not checked in like cell phones. The interviewees were allowed to bring them up to the 19th floor.
b) The security guard at the front door may not be thorough as they need to be. The guard was not screening candid... read complete review
