I arrived at the Consulate at 8:20 for a 9am interview. There was no line outside and I was let in immediately and given #17. When I arrived on the 19th floor the first number I heard called for immigrant visas was #2 so I thought I may be in for a long wait but it wasn't too bad. I was called up around 9:30 to present my documents, get finger printed etc and then told to sit and wait for my number to be called again.
After around 20 minutes I was called up for the "interview". I was helped by a friendly younger gentlemen who took a quick look at my file and said "oh, this will be easy" which immediately helped calm my nerves down. He asked a couple questions about What I did for a living, What my wife's profession was, where she worked, when we got married and if I had any problems with police in the past.
He then told me I was approved and handed me the welcome to the United States of America letter. He said because I live in BC I should expect my passpo... read complete review

This is the review my Fiance gave me:
He arrived in Montreal from St. Johns, NL at about 7:20am. He first went to the Medisys to pick up his medical paperwork. He then arrived at the consulate at approximately 7:40am when they opened. They informed him that he is not allowed a bag nor electronics, so he walked next door and politely asked the pharmacy if he could stow his bag there. They were very kind and understanding and the woman behind the counter took his bag for him happily. She said it's not the first time she has been asked.
After taking care of that, he returned to the consulate, went through basic security measures (similar to TSA) got his ticket and proceeded to the 19th floor where he sat until his number was called.
Once his number was called, went to the window and gave them his basic background information, birth certificate, police and military records etc. He did some finger printing and then returne... read complete review

Arrived at 6:30(recommend being early as by 7 there were plenty of people there, about 15!!). Guard came out about 7:30 and checked everyone off and made sure you had the needed papers(recommend having your DS160 at the ready). Very pleasant and friendly. At 7:40 they escorted us in and you have to unload everything into a container(since you have to walk through a metal detector), then they checked us with a wand as well. They do keep your cellphone(give you a ticket that you collect it after), and then we went downstairs to wait for the guard to take us upstairs. Came about 10 minutes later and told us to go to the 19th floor(wow we were packed in!!). Once upstairs, they called us up by the number were assigned as we entered to the booths in front of us. Lady I spoke with was very pleasant(told me I would have to redo my passport photos, since the background wasn't white enough), and collected up papers(divorce docs, birth certificate, etc....suggest having your papers in order as it... read complete review

The interview wasn`t what I expected. I had to go to two different counters and they asked for some more papers (just the ones mentioned in the package that you receive from the embassy). The process took maybe 15 minutes, even though I spent about 1-2 hours there.
Be prepared, bring all your papers and there is nothing to worry about

Our appointment was on 09/29 at 7:40 a.m. My fiancee is from a small town in BC. We had to apply for interview at Montreal consulate because that is the only place that will handle citizens from other country that are in Canada.
We arrived at 6:00 am. We were trying to look for parking but there's a lot of constructions going on around the consulate that there was no street parking nearby. So, we parked at the parking lot paying $17 CAD for the whole day just in case it may take longer like other people said. Of course we paid the parking at 7:00 am. and walked to consulate which is just outside the parking lot.
When we got there, there was only two people at the door. One on left side and one on right side. We lined up behind a girl who was in the left side. Then people started showing up and lined up on each side. At 7:30, a really nice girl came out and told everyone to only keep one line on the left side. She was very nice and smiling the whole time.... read complete review
