My Vancouver interview was today, Tuesday December 15th at 8am! I'll start with the medical interview first:
I live in the lower mainland, so my appointment with Dr Cheema was over two weeks before my interview and I drove. I was scheduled for 8am and showed up at 7:45-- I was the only person there so no waiting at all. The ladies helping me were very pleasant and knowledgeable. She took all my information, the four passport photos and my payment (debit or cash only!) and I sat down for barely 2 minutes before I was called in.
I was very worried because I have Ulcerative Colitis, and some of the medication I take is quite serious. I know they are looking for things that are communicable or degenerative, but I couldn't help being anxious! It was not a problem. If you're like me and you've been in a thousand Drs appointments before, this is exactly like that. Dr Cheema was brisk and pleasant, rattled off a long list of questions (History of heart problems, d... read complete review

I stayed at the Travelodge just up the road from the consulate. It was pretty cheap and only a 5 min walk. I arrived at the consulate around 6:50 and was the first one in line. At around 7:30 the guards opened the door and called in people one at a time. A lady looked at my appointment letter and gave me the #1 ticket. I went through security and downstairs to wait for the elevator.
At around 8am, a guard came down, slid the barriers to the side, and we all loaded in. Once up, I sat down in the middle section of seats, labelled immigrant visas. After a few minutes I was called to window 1 and handed the officer all my documents. I sat back down and was called again shortly after.
The officer asked me a few questions like how we met, what we both do, if I've ever been to the US longer than 6 months or lived in any other country. Overall, is was pretty painless, and I was out by 8:30 am, so it pays to be early

I had my interview earlier this week.
I arrived at the consulate at 7:00 am and there were 5 people in front of me. Once the consulate opened at 7:40ish the lady at the door asked for everyones appointment letters (if seeking immigrant or K visa) and DS160 confirmation for non-immigrant. For the immigrant/K-1 visas I was handed #3 as she checked my name off the list.
I brought nothing except my papers so security was quick and painless. I did see one guy turned away at the door for having a messenger bag, the security guard rhyming off nearby locations with lockers.
After waiting for the elevator for approximately 20 minutes I was in the first group to go up, immigrant visas were directed to a section of chairs in the middle and non-immigrant were told to line up else where. I waited about 20-30 minutes before being called to the window.
The woman I dealt with at the window was super nice. From me she requested:

We were scheduled for 7:40am this morning. We reached the consulate around 7:35ish(did not want to stand out in the cold). I was given # 7 for the immigrant visa. After going through the security screening we went up to the 19th floor. Our number was called probably around 8:40ish where we handed in all our docs..original police certificate, copy of birth certificate and original, 2 passport pics, proof of financial support(was specifically asked for 2014 tax return),I-134,Statement of intent to marry, proof of making the payment before scheduling the interview.
After that we waited about 10 mins and then our number was called in for the interview. After reading the oath I was asked the following questions,
1) How did we meet
2)where does my fiancee lives
3) what does she do for living
4) what do I do for living
5)If I have lived in any other countries
6) Any problem with the law anywhere
7) If I overstayed in USA
8)Trouble cr... read complete review

My interview was at 7:40am, so we stayed overnight at the Courtyard Marriott Hotel, which was amazing. You can see the consulate from the hotel lobby and the staff there was extremely friendly - well worth the price in location alone, but the hotel itself made it all the more worth while! Definitely recommend staying there if you can, especially if you don't have your own transportation with you because it is so close to the consulate.
I left the hotel around 6:55am and got there before 7:00am. There were two people ahead of me, and by the time 7:10am rolled around there were about ten people in line and growing so I do think that 7:00am is a good time to be there to line up. Around 7:30am security came outside and started setting up the barriers for the line to form single file and we were all told to have our passport and DS-160's out and ready. As others have stated, don't bring large bags with you. People with them were turned away before they even opened the doors. ... read complete review
